Nah Lost Light came after. They relaunched MTMTE as LL inorder to try and boost sales.

Well the IDW universe ends with Unicron #6 and has an epilogue with Optimus Prime #25, but the story specific to MTMTE ends with LL 25.

Shitting on things that other people like without anything even slightly additive to say is a waste of data on the TFW server. I'm so sick of seeing it. It's like people want to make other's feel bad.

 

Roberts' use of human cultural norms constantly in a species that should not have had explicitly human cultural norms prevented immersion into Transformers, which is the franchise he was writing for, and instead turned the book into an unrestrained mouthpiece for whatever talking point was foisted onto him on Tumblr which he then vomited onto the page to appease the keyboard warrior masses on that platform who in turn stroked his ego repeatedly, therefor emboldening him to double, triple, or even quadruple down on said talking point issues, resulting in such uncomfortable moments as the pedophilic relationship between Cyclonus and Tailgate, JUST as a starting point.

There was nothing “paedophilic” about Cyclonus and Tailgate’s relationship. Cyclonus being more experienced and taller than Tailgate does not make it an adult/child relationship.

 

The holomatter avatars made sure it most assuredly was. It was grooming, and everyone should give pause to that specific set up.

 

Nah. Lost Light happened, what passed for a story was wrapped up. There's no need for another entry of this trash.

Last I checked 'shitting on things' isn't against the rules and whether or not they wish to add anything further is up to them. No one forced you to respond to those 'shitting' on whatever. If reading an opposing view really bothers you that much perhaps the internet isn't the place you should be spending time.

Whether or not other people like something is irrelevant when discussing it's quality and substance as a work of fiction.

Also if someone criticizing or just insulting something you like is enough to make you as a person feel bad, that means you still have a lot of growing to do and is a YOU problem rather than an 'everyone else' problem.

 

Tailgate was mentally only two weeks old. His holomatter avatar was an infant, and he was portrayed as childlike and naive, especially when being “groomed” by Getaway. The story firmly established him as a child entity, and Cyclonus as a far older, wiser adult one.

I don’t think Roberts wrote their relationship like that on purpose, though, it was just a side-effect of his lowbrow philosophy of making every relationship a romantic one. If Cyclonus had taken on a paternal or “older brother” role that’d be fine, but that wasn’t how Roberts approached relationships, and thus it turned out more disturbing and uncomfortable than it logically should have.

 

I would have vastly, vastly preferred if Cyclonus was just a mentor, or hell even a father-like figure to Tailgate instead of the fanfic shit they pulled. I doubt it was intentional but I can totally understand why people see their relationship as creepy due to certain factors.

The kind of people that will like 'CyGate' are probably the same kind of people that watch Lord of the Rings and can't mentally conceive two men just being good friends to each other and assume Frodo and Sam MUST be lovers. What's wrong with just being friends?

 

I find that being the question I asked myself a lot near the end of LL. It's a very... juvenile mindset that all bonds trace back to a romantic core, the way a socially maladjusted teen can't form a bond between a member of the opposite sex without assuming the end goal is romance/marriage. That sounds harsh, but it's genuinely how I felt when everyone started pairing up near the end. It's less "everyone is a romantic" and more "there's no sense of any other facets of the human condition on display such as brotherhood, camaraderie, or mutual respect."

 

Simply put; Slash knows no other form of relationship between two same sex induvidiums (no friendship, no enmity, none of the diverse relationships) except "romance" and "sex". The only sad thing is when official writers let themselves be carried away by slash fans and make slash to canon. And in my opinion IDW did this too many times...
