"Fine detail" you mean like the hollow plastic hands, rubber ring spike hanging off and big clumps of shell on the back and legs? Doesnt scream "fine detailing to me", oh yeah theres lines etched into the plastic but its not what I would call "fine detail" but you know, semantics and all that, if it floats your boat thats all that matters for you.

Dont get me wrong, I about pooped myself when I saw the Haslab one but on careful analysis its just.... compromised and basic if that makes sense, the plastic sounds hollow and cheap, sturdy sure, but still hollow and cheap sounding, like it was made for a (very wealthy) kid as opposed to a collector like the MP lines. Studio Cell shows that it could be done better and thats from a company that didnt crowdsource funding in advance but you know, I like the clean look, that floats my boat.

But hey multiple options cant be a bad thing and those who bought Haslab seem to have killed it as secondary market for these things are nuts.

 

I get the blue font, but JUST to be pedantic, that ''what if'' argument is not really a good argument anyway. The sail barge literally does say Return of the Jedi on the package.

Everyone and I mean EVERYONE has made their stance on it LOUD and clear for the last three WEEKS...
Its time to be quiet and move on. That goes for me and everyone else bent out of shape over something that
is objectively a miraculous thing that has happened to the fandom. NEVER did I think we were going to get something
this cool in actual physical reality and yet...here it is. Unicron has been a staple character for me and hundreds of other fans.
Literally 85% of ALL the other backers are going to be happy with this and be too busy actually enjoying the figure to waste their time
arguing about nothing on a forum full of people they don't even know. the other 15% will sell it and (hopefully) move on with their lives.
I am not a moderator nor am I pretending to be one...but the arguing really should stop. Nobody actually enjoys it.
and if you do...you have some other things to work out that are more pressing than Unicron.
I have ONLY ever come back to this thread in hopes that there would be cool new photos or some QC issues I need to be aware of going in.
I've seen very little constructive discussion like that. Just whining.
I would absolutely LOVE to just talk about how cool this thing is with fellow fans...
but folks are CLEARLY...not going to do that. which is sad. Transformer fans who act like they don't actually like Transformers just...baffles me.

Studio Cell nails the clean silhouette, but doesn't follow through when it comes to filling in the lines.

Yea, while it is not going to stop me from keeping it, the mismatched teeth still get me, especially after seeing the video with some of the the painting process. Seems like one more clamp and one more employee with a spray gun to get that right (I am probably way over-simplifying that), but it isn't something you can really explain away as an aesthetic choice. Still keeping it, though mine will be checked for missing bits and pieces and probably then sit back in the box for the next 3 years.

 

Not an aesthetic "choice", just a reality. The inner jaw, with 95% certainty on my part, was cast in the "unpaintable" plastic, so they couldn't paint the lower teeth.

 

The lower teeth aren't a problem for me, will have his mouth closed most of the time.

Mods - I propose a sunset timeframe for the thread, maybe 2 months after Chinese New Year ends, where its been now over 800 pages of standard grade school screaming matches. No real gain in the community in keeping it going at this point after 18+ months.

 

No need to end the thread just because. People need somewhere to talk about ole Unicron and his horrible looking blue maw.

 

The point is for people to discuss Unicron, which will continue the need for this thread as most people haven't gotten their's yet.

That Hot Rod looks soooooo dope in that pose under Unicron. Like a movie poster. The size difference is amazing.

 

discussions is fine, but this has been hundreds of pages of back and forth of the same complaints, which should be taken to Hasbro customer service, Hasbro social media pages, or a Hasbro forum. Maybe ask them to do a pre-order prepaid only re-release with the fixes and correct paint apps.
