I know this is old news (maybe this thread could be moved to the 3P forum?), but I recently installed this kit and wanted to share my experiences with it.

Installation was stressful but went fine. Both the head and the arm are glued. I used a LEGO Brick Separator to help pry the pieces apart, and luckily ended up not breaking any of the pegs. After that, the install was easy. The parts fit fine and the electronics work well. The halves of the head and arm fit back together well and the seam isn't noticeable.

I did think the eyes were too bright and the lack of eye lenses was a disappointment. So I made a 3D-printed piece to fill in the eyes and diffuse the LEDs. Minor/Repaint: - WFC:S Omega Supreme Eye Inserts for Shockwave Lab LED Kit

    Got mine done tonight with
these awesome bits printed out on my buddy's 3d printer with transblue filament. It's so thin that two out of the three broke. He did one for me without the eye led cutouts, and it's rock solid, but then the leds don't have room lol

Also painted the translucent blue piping to make it less harsh. I think I'm gonna have to paint more of the inside of omega's face mask as well to make it even. Maybe @Robots78 could design a little eyepiece that goes on over the eyes with clear filament to sit in the gaps around each eye and maybe connect over omega's nose's bridge. That way, I could paint it on a flat surface and remove the unavoidable 3d paint lines.

That's awesome! I'm glad someone actually used that piece, when I shared it I knew it was in a pretty deep niche haha. It is a real bear to print. I'm not sure when you downloaded the file but I did update it a week or so ago to enlarge the little pads that keep the corners held down, which helped a lot for me.

I'm so glad you made it... There was another guy doing copies of the original pieces in resin, but he wasn't going to sell them, so I was really not looking forward to trying how to figure out how to do that on my own :D  I don't remember when I downloaded it, probably before you made updates tho. I may go check it out and see if I can bribe my buddy into printing me off a couple new ones. He did get the idea to do the same thing for Armada unicron so the eyes could be green from this, which is yet another awesome thing hehe.

I've posted my eye lenses part for sale in my Shapeways shop, along with a version without room for the LEDs for those who just want to change Omega's eye color.

LED version: WFC:Siege Omega Supreme Eye Inserts (LED version) by robots78 on Shapeways
Non-LED version: WFC:Siege Omega Supreme Eye Inserts by robots78 on Shapeways

Shapeways doesn't offer translucent a blue material, so I'm offering the part in either solid blue, which should let some light through as the lenses are very thin, or their fine detail material which is transparent but colorless. These materials are untested and I make no guarantees about how well they'll perform with the LEDs.

Just opened up the head on mine real easy. Either they didn't glue the reissue pegs or mine was just light on the glue. There was glue holding the chin strap in for sure, but the head came apart with minimal effort and no broken pegs. Haven't actually gotten this kit yet, but I have one coming so I wanted to test out the disassembly.

So I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on Omega Supreme at BBTS, but I wanted to know where I could find this light kit at. I’ve looked at a couple of online retailers but I haven’t seen it. If anyone knows please pass it on.

Just so you know, this kit was done before SL started doing a lot of clear pieces, so...there's no eyes if you install this kit. Hence, the lens post above.

I've made my own custom but that's much different.

I should have performed due diligence but I didn't so here we are lol.

I got obscenely lucky with my reissue copy of Earthrise Omega Supreme. The only "sticking point" on the head was the rubbery vent at the front but, I was able to pop it off easily with my hands (same with the actual head). There was no exterior nor interior damage (it looked like only one peg had any adhesive applied). Having easily separated the head, it will be easy to go back later for paint apps and what not. The only sticking point on the pew pewpew pew arm was the peg near the first "wall" (for the recessed pit) closest to the shoulder, and I wasn't sure if that seal was ever going to break (then it went pop/crack and I thought for sure I snapped a peg off but, I didn't).

That having been said, I don't like this upgrade kit:

The eye LEDs redefine bright (there's no way you can't see them from space). They look like a blurry mess when diffused behind the factory eye plastic. If something less powerful doesn't come along (where the eyes are sharp and clear while lit), I'll simply do without.

The pew pew-pew pew arm LED is probably excessively bright as well but, that's going to be pointed down/up/etc. rather than "you can't avoid my eye LEDs melting you". However, I have absolutely no interest in taking off four screws and then another four screws every time I need to remove or put batteries in (I don't leave batteries in anything other than remotes, not even button-cell batteries). I also prefer the aesthetics/colour of the default silver piece of destruction and, it's movement feels better (it's not gritty feeling when sliding/rotating). The silver piece of death that comes with the upgrade kit really should have had a base colour that was black. There is a ton of LED light leak since the base colour is white and the paint wasn't applied evenly (it sort of looks like when metal starts to melt from the inside out as areas of the wall break down faster than others). I'm sure there are people that would dig that effect but, I'm not one of them because ewww gross battle damage lol. I have a similar complaint about the LED eye kit for The Ark (the entire face lights up like a nightlight due to the thin plastic and the colour the head is made out of).

At least I didn't break anything during disassembly/reassembly. The Earthrise Omega Supreme and Kingdom The Ark LED upgrades are probably my last adventure into the world of LED upgrades unless something comes along that is toned down drastically and mimics the animation and/or light piping effect without needing an exterior light source.

Yeah, you definitely gotta black out the inside. I had to do the same thing with my haslab uni mask when I put the SL LED eyes in him... that piece is transparent plastic, so it was especially bleed-y lol
