I'm on the opposite side of the argument as you but I can't help but laugh at how badly everyone is misreading what you're saying

Rodimus will be a similar height as ER Optimus, so a voyager plus plus

I'm reading through the last 30 pages of this thread and I like that you just pop in here and there to reply to random comments about completely unrelated things

Orion Pax was Cybertronian design while Optimus Prime is earth based. Both Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime are already earth based. I bet that if Orion Pax came to earth and took an earth alt mode, he'd look a lot like Optimus Prime even before getting the Matrix

No gimmick here. This car turns into Rodimus Prime, and the trailer will only be extras, like ER Optimus' trailer

SS86 Hot Rod has 7 accessories, 9 if you count his flip out hand welder and flip out visor, not 1 or 2

He might be more different than he appears at first glance. It's hard to tell since it's so blurry, but it looks like the back of his calves are the correct black color. The back of SS86 Hot Rod's calves are red because they become the outside of the car, while the same doesn't seem to be the case here on this figure. I think there's some pretty different engineering going on there, but none of us will be able to tell for sure either way until we get better pictures and perhaps a video review

Also even the Masterpiece version sucked, and that was before the exploding knees. This figure is long overdue.

I don’t think that’s what they meant when they said these boards are family friendly...their shrine isn’t family friendly.

Honestly, I’m starting to wonder whether some of the hate permeates from the fact that this is Rodimus. Like, if this was an Optimus, would we be getting the same reaction? Because a lot of the people who are hating on Commander Rodimus were the same people who bought ER Optimus and his upgrade kits + reprolabels, which comes out to the same price. Oh, and before anyone calls me a G1 fanboy, I’m 15, I grew up with Prime, and I couldn’t sit through the first 10 minutes of the first episode of G1.

Little could have hurt the eventual Rodimus announcement more than him leaking without the trailer. Wowie.

And ironically I'm okay with paying for just that! I never said I hated the picture being shown in this thread, I'm just not going to pay an extra $50 for the rest.

Hell, I still only have SIEGE OP with no trailer because I'm not willing to pay another $50 in that case either (plus I do have a G1 trailer that I keep in battle station mode which is better than ER's trailer anyway). So $30 for the Voyager Rodimus in that pic would be just fine.

Just a general for the record post: this was the first thing I saw this morning (like literally opened my eyes and immediately received a text about it from @PrinceDarian07 ), and to my freshly awakened bleary eyes, it looked absolutely identical to SS 86 roddy. So here I am, just waking up, disapointed in a figure I was looking forward to seeing if not owning, and stumbling blindly into the shit storm that was the first few pages of this thread. I think you can see where this is going.

In short, sorry for the snippy/combative responses especially earlier in the day, was having an off one. If you like this figure good for you, just personally disappointed for reasons I think I’ve made pretty clear. Hope I’m wrong and he’s everything everyone wants him to be.

You gotta hand it to Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime. Wherever he is, whatever he does, he whips up this fandom into a fucking frothing frenzy every frikkin' time. Top lad.

As a big fan of the modular bases, figures and weaponry running throughout the current Trilogy, I'm cautiously optimistic. Base figure looks good for one single rubbish image. I just wanna see the full reveal and have the as yet unseen trailer play features and line integration explained before I go bombing round the Internet like some sort of mad twat.

Despite my username being what it is, my favorite Autobot is Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime, so I am very excited about this and can't wait to add him to the Hot Rod Shelf. I really wanna see the trailer. 20210303_195607.jpg

Well I mean, in every other continuity yes, but in the G1 Cartoon/comic there wasn't really any difference between Cybertron Optimus and Earth Optimus.

I think he looks good!! Reminds me a lot of Carry's aesthetic. Clearly there are some transformation parts shared w/S86 Rod, but that's definitely not a bad thing. Not sure how they're going to justify 80 bucks for him, but let's wait for the full reveal.

They did such a great job with S86 Rod that the bar's been set pretty high for this figure.
