That’s a 1/55 VF-1S Super Valkyrie, look for Bandai raised markings under the wings or backplate(or a Bandai marking on the bottom corner of the box if you got the box). If it’s legit, it’s from 1990, that head sculpt is unique to the 1990 release. It did get KO’d a few times since. From your pic it does look legit. The gun clip can’t be used with the forearm armor. It just plugs onto the unarmored forearm towards the back end of it and allows the gun to be stored under it in battroid and gerwalk mode.
Thanks, when I saw it I thought it would help storing the weapon on plane mode, but no luck either. Probably why I lost this day 1. Bandai 1984 on my markings. In the meantime, I found pictures of the box on internet (ok, I can't really remember exactly the box after 30 years, but I clearly remember the artwork, which seems unique to this version) So apparently legit (except if KO did also reproduce the box)
But then I won't have a DX version! And I'll still have the issue of the regular looking plain next to the PF. The better solution for me would be to sell you my regular Arcadia for the price of a PF and buy the PF.
Ah, I see your problem. Ok, I'll buy your DX and Arcadia regular version for the price of the PF so you can have that and nothing to compare it to! OH and that way you have more display space for some of your storage Valkyries to come out.
I think yours is legit then. 1984 is when Bandai got the molds from Takatoku and/or used them for the 1st time. I tried doing that when I was younger. Wish it could store the gun in fighter mode. I was able to hold the gun in place by placing the handle between the forearms but it definitely wasn’t designed for it and could damage the toy. Ambition at the cost of durability 30 some years ago haha. I prefer the clip on heat shield on that 1990 version over the swappable heat shield on the post-2000’s Bandai reissues since it seems to align flush with the chest plate.
I like this idea, and I need a reason to 1) reduce the size of my collection and 2) raise funds for more Valkyries like this expensive PF YF-19.

That one on the right...always will be something to about it to me. Love how it’s molded in grey instead of white.
He looks like a soldier to me. It’s hard to believe that toy is almost 40 years old. It’s almost the oldest toy I own. I still gotta track down a gun clip for him...it’s the only thing that was missing from the box when I got it.
You’ve taken great care of it considering the age! Hell I thought it was 1 of the 2 post-2000s reissues until I saw the missing paint from the chest vents.
Trade the Roy 1S for the 1J and your collection would be consistent. I thought that was the reissue at first which is why I was going, "It should be around 20 years old" (which still makes me feel old). Dang, my 1A is almost 40 years old... Same here! Man, that really looks better than the reissue.
So I decided to ditch the Bandai flight stand for a flight pose stand (I really wish they had the small size in stock) to get a little more dynamic flight pose for Ozma. I like this look a lot better. I got space open for when Luca arrives and another flight pose stand for him. Oh and I finally put together my Playmax Minmay model this weekend. This thing is the tiniest crappiest thing I've even put together....lol
Regult! I want to get one of those guys. They look like egg timers with legs and guns...lol. I have to give credit to the previous owner, honestly. I’ve had it for a couple years now, but I’d guess it spent the better part of its life sitting on a shelf in its box. I found it at a local toy shop for less than most newer 1/55s seemed to sell for and figured it was as economical a way as any to get hold of one. As for the missing gun clip, is there any way to tell the difference between a vintage Takatoku clip and one of the newer Bandai releases?? Ending up with three VF-1Js was really just an accident...haha. I wasn’t necessarily going for VF-1Js...they just happened to be the ones available at MSRP when I decided I wanted something Macross. The only one in the picture that I specifically held out for is Roy’s. Plus, after 3 VF-1Js, I really needed to introduce a fresh color scheme.
So, this question is quite interesting. From what I can tell researching it, there was no rhyme or reason that I can figure out. Sometimes the clips and guns were more of a charcoal and some were more black. But it changed hands at least three times with Takatoku, Matsuhiro and Bandai. And I've seen the two colors between the three in the early releases. By the time of the reissues they were all black. I think they used leftover parts etc. as they changed hands so that's why you see all of them. For collectors looking to purchase, one thing is for sure though, if you received opposite colors between the clip and gun pod then whoever sold you the chunky pulled a Frankenstein or someone else did at some point. MAN, finding one of those back in the 90's was like my ultimate grail for a time, especially for "only" $66.00. of course, once i got online around 2000, and began well and truly learning about MACROSS and VF-1 toys in earnest, things began to fall into their natural perspectives...
