I did have that thought, and it makes sense enough I suppose, just personally I felt like it coulda been better. Oh well, I really enjoy the look of the rest of the figure... even if it has cat ears in truck mode... I think that I can forgive it:p

the whole cat ears thing reminds me of the colored maw debacle in the haslab unicron thread: hasbro gets so close, but decides to go “fuck it” during the last stretch on what would be an outstanding release. i don’t see why they couldn’t hahah have a hinge there to collapse that panel in half and fold down towards the cab.

as others have mentioned, the fixed shoulder is a huge oversight imo. but i’ve seen gundam models where the arms can move out independent of the shoulder pads, so i wonder if they felt like that would be ok here? nonetheless, prime’s design has his shoulders connected to his arm rather than its own, so i don’t think that works for prime.

lastly, the pegs on his inner leg is really an eyesore. they could’ve used some shorter t-shaped clips (not sure what they’re called) and have it hold the same as these longer pegs.

i hope these trivial nuances don’t become a recurring theme with their otherwise excellent releases

Probably because there is no official design for the matrix yet, so both this, and the yolopark version are just kind of "best guess" situations. I really would not be surprised if a slightly modded version of this figure is released some time down the road with a new matrix and chest cavity (and probably alt mode given how paramount likes changing them between movies).

Man, this looks like someone jammed SS 38 onto WJ's Fire Scorpion. I also am not a fan of the tactical photos they are using: hiding the longer than usual back end, square back panel (not pack but panel), and no showing the back. Does MPM 12 have feature the Cybertronian spinal design?
I don't like this at all but might buy this just to see what HasTak came up with.

I can understand that.. I'd say drop your standards a little if that be the case, but at the price point MP figures are going for these days, the quality of the figures should honestly match the price they're charging..

You're right, I should have said 'at least' instead of implying people should straight up handle the figure before judging it. But I also think it's equally as silly to judge a figure based solely on photographs. But, regardless of my opinion, I can't help but agree with yours and other peoples after seeing the figure previewed on YouTube. The robot mode does look nice, but the joints seem to be a bit concerning, and the alt mode isn't great either. They did a better job with the Studio Series 38 figure's alt mode honestly.

I expected it to be better than the $30 figure, that was the expectation set. I apparently should have aimed for a lower bar. Who knows, maybe it’ll be fun to mess with when it’s on clearance.

Where the legs seem to have solid ratchets to make sure the figure can stand & such, the upper arms look like they’re a different story with only soft ratchets at the shoulders with how easily they turn, while the forearms meanwhile seem to have ratchets the upper arms should have instead. I could be wrong and I’m hoping they don’t skip out on important details, but if MP Taigatron is any indication... I’ll give them credit though regardless, because the back of the figure cleans up really well. I guess we’ll just have to wait for when the figure’s available for more in-depth reviews

Mpm12 proportions are spot on. No other version has the detail, shapes, or proportions as good as this one does
