Physical media seems like is slowly dying. Very slowly.

Physical media won't pass on anytime soon. Did you not know that BOOKS yes BOOKS are on the way back in due to their wide availability & cheap cost? Here I thought paper was supposed to have been gone by 2000...How did that work out?

I never figured books would ever go away. they don't need the internet, power, to be booted up. They're just there. Open it up and start reading.

Never said books. Books will surpass all. Books aren't on their way back because they never went on hiatus. Comics are still widely produced and comic shop are still thriving thanks to print media.

But movies? Shows? Days of DVD collections will inevitably end. Less space, less "stuff" to hoard.

Yes, I received a grim reminder of that when I lost power in the Texas Snowmageddon for a day and a half. Thank goodness I still had my books or I would have went nuts.

Physical media for DVDs could be salvaged with enough extras, commentaries, and what have ya.

They have several titles that they put a slash though the original price, but have the sale price remain the same as the OG price...

I've been wanting to see the Shout remasters of Transformers but I don't have a Region 1 player. The licence holder here in the UK is (or was) Metrodome and their release was almost 20 years ago now and is pretty awful. Hopefully whoever takes on the licence (if Shout are going to let it expire) also includes the UK next time.

It varies. Printed comic (especially graphic novels) sales have gone up. Some movies and shows kill in physical media others don’t. If sales don’t match the cost of the rights and cost of production less stuff will be available on physical media. Hasbro has full Transformers shows on free streaming services like Tubi and Youtube so that probably hurts Shouts sales.

it’s expensive unfortunately. that’s why most extras are just from the EP Kits from the theatrical marketing team. You won’t see gems like that amazing uncensored “making of..” documentary on the Phantom Menace DVD or the extras from the LOTR dvds.

Shame. Extras are part of what got me wanting to build a DVD collection to begin with!

I used to edit them. So it was a nice way to earn extra cash between other video editing gigs. I’d be lucky to get half my rate cutting anything for a blu ray now.

Picked up a copy of The Japanese Collection from Amazon. Disc 1 of Headmasters is defective. Half of episode 3 won't play. Found a small pin head sized bump on the underside of the disc. Already requested a replacement and it will be here Wednesday.

So, I finally got that Malaysian RiD2001 DVD set, but my Blu-Ray player won't recognize the disc. Do I need some special set-up? I was under the impression that being Region-Free was enough, but it seems not to be so....
