As others have said, there is even a dedicated thread comparing the two, but for my own personal thoughts: I started with Superator as my first dinobot and absolutely loved him. Great feel in hand, good sculpt and paint, decent transformation though it has a few finnicky parts... but still mostly intuitive. It has an issue with breakage if you don't transform his arms properly, but if you're careful it shouldn't be a problem. I had some reservations though because I found it to be too big in bot mode compared to my other figures (he was so much bigger than MP10 and just a head or so shorter than Phoenix, which I felt was too large). So I purchased FT Grinder with the additional G1 head. I was surprised to see that they were pretty similar in size in dino mode (as stated previously), but Grinder was significantly shorter in bot mode. I think I preferred Superator's sculpt overall, as Grinder has kinda wonky proportions to me. However, Grinder also has better articulation in my opinion, particularly with functional ankle rockers. Superator only has OUTWARD ankle rockers (for transformation) which is useless for posing. I also found Grinder to have a more intuitive transformation. However, it also felt cheaper in hand compared to Superator, which is unusual for Fanstoys bots. Of course, this is purely subjective, but in isolation I preferred Superator. I eventually sold Superator because I just didn't like the scale in bot mode that much. However, after a few months I changed up how I displayed my bots and decided to designate a space just for dinobots. When deciding between Fanstoys and Gigapower, I honestly don't think you can go wrong, but in isolation I still preferred Gigapower - so I bought Superator again haha. I now have most of the Gigapower bots and sold off my FT Grinder.
Man I love this thing! Got him over a year ago but I still stare at it like I just got him yesterday. It’s probably my favorite piece in my collection. I still need Grassor and Gutter to finish the set... hope Gigapower pulls thru on their chrome reissues.
whole set, minus gaudenter which is already sold. Gutter and Graviter each have a bit of damages (Gutter a missing hip flap, Graviter has a damaged spring load arm that I’ve asked a replacement for). All are chrome
Do you still have Superator? Looking at Showz it looks like they're doing reissues and based on the prices for the ones they've confirmed so far, I'm assuming Superator will be 185-195 shipped too. If you still have him, and aren't too far off I'd be interested. I think I can be patient with the others, but not Grimlock.
I'm sooo late. I had a pipe burst and had to move my collection. Even robot mode I think scale is identical.
I'd like to know as well. I broke an arm in dino mode and need a replacement. Was going to wait until March to contact them due to CNY.
No chance for me, I bought mine off another collector and also customer service is almost non-existent where I live...
I wish they could make the one with weathered paint. I sold off my metallic superator for that. Gigas paint is probably second to none
He is more refering to the fact that they have been promising to reissue guttur in chrome for 2.3 years now. It keeps getting delayed/pushed back. It is why i bought a used one from someone else, cause a lot of us lost hope that it was ever going to actually happen.
What kind of yes do you mean? Gutter was set for march I thought, but has now been pushed back to Q2. Is this right?
According to the two reps for ShowZ I spoke to, they said that the metallic figures would definitely be put up for pre-order at some point this year. But it doesn't surprise me that there are going to be delays because I can't even mail a letter now without running into them.
I just assumed what was happening is they put preorder up, let giga know how many preorders they have, then giga decide if enough to actually go through with making. But, here’s hoping!
Thats exactly what GP is doing, they have said in the past that unless they get enough pre orders they wont go through with it.
