Got him the other day. He is amazing. Simple transformation and looks great in both modes. Wheelie is useless. Rather have a sword, but it is fine.

Loving this 86 line. This and kingdom are shaping up to be amazing.

Opened mine today, really awesome. Very similar to the Masterpiece of many years ago. I know we've got Slag on the way, and this gives me high hopes for him! (And for at least Swoop and Sludge)

I guess it would be impossible to tell someone to like a figure. We all know that there is no such thing as perfect figure for everyone. It really depends on how much goods you can see on a figure and for you to decide whether these are enough for you to overlook its "shortcomings"(and vice versa). For examples, if you want to talk about being gappy then I suppose Jazz is very gappy in bot mode and you bought it. BTW Jazz also lacks wrist covers. Even for Cyclonus; regarded by many as being almost perfect; it has gappy thighs... and face sculpt being off for some. There are tolerant issues on Scourge and some people are complaining about the bot knees sticking out on Hot Rod's alt mode... All these problems can be overlook if you like these figures.

I'm not trying to start an argument here. All I can say is if you don't like the figure then don't buy it and don't have second thoughts about it. I just don't think anyone here can convince you to get a figure that you don't like.

Out of the box Grimlock is hefty, poseable and easy to transform. How did it take Hasbro so long to get a good toy of this guy out?

Love the t-rex mode. It really is a mini masterpiece and fun to fart on with. But with those blue eyes he's a little too friendly...

That was fixed by unscrewing both heads and painting them, plus I did a quick and dirty mod of a spare sword from some movie toy and viola! Or is it cello? Fiddle? Anyway he has a big red sword now. I also added a reprolabel to his chest as while I do like that dark chest piece, I don't like how it blocks his badge.

Wheelie got thrown somewhere and nothing of value was lost.

In the bit of time I've had the figure I already think it's more fun than Kingdom Cyclonus.

Just finished my full refit of this guy and he looks like a million bucks.

Pretty sure the thing holding the Dinobots back for the longest time was that the retail environment was not in the right place for them to be able to feasibly release all five within a reasonable timeframe of each other.

It still isn't, in many ways. Aren't the remaining four rumoured to be split across various lines?

Slag is confirmed as Studio Series Leader by store listings and Swoop is rumored to be in SS with Wreck-Gar as a Voyager wave.

Sludge and Snarl are unknown releases.

Seems reasonably likely, based on the rumor sources claiming all five Dinobots are coming "somehow", and following the examples of the Studio Series ROTF Constructicons and how 1986 movie-debuting characters have/ will-have-been split up between SS86 and the various WFC lines.

As in: All five Dinobots in scale, but not necessarily all in the SS86 line, and it might take 1-2 years to get them all, possibly more.

With most of the Dinobots likely occupying Leader Class price points, they'll probably have to be split over two years, much as the SS Constructicons were.

It's still a far cry from the earlier years when they attempted any Dinobots. Classics was too limited in scope to do all five, and Energon only manage to slot Grimlock and Swoop in with some sort of weird, "experimental" release.

But now we're in a time where retailers are more forgiving of the collector-oriented line demographics, with less restrictions on things like shelf diversity that would have stymied previous release efforts, plus two concurrently running Generations lines that they could potentially split the releases across (although no indication that they will at this point, with all current listings belonging to Studio Series).

I got mine from Pulse yesterday and he's pretty spectacular. My favorite part is the leg transformation. As people have already said he's basically MP Grimlock scaled down, but it's like the designer had been sitting on an idea on how to do the MP leg transformation for years. It's got such an economy of movement that winds up doing close enough to the same thing. Plus the head turn/tail waggle in the MP is an easy thing to give up in the process.

Fantastic. Just truly hits every note, and is one of those rare figures where I'm not crossing my fingers while I'm unboxing him hoping he has no QC issues. Everything is tight, everything has a place to go securely, and there's almost nothing in the way of hollow spaces (a few, but far, far less than most figures these days).

Interestingly, he's significantly lighter than Kingdom BW Megatron in hand.

Also, SCREWS. This guy has more screws than possibly all of Earthrise combined.

EDIT: I spoke too soon... mine does have a QC issue albeit a small one. The notch that would create a soft ratchet effect in his dinosaur knees appears missing / broken off on one side. Oh well.

    Great figure.

Just a shame it doesn't have outward shoulder articulation in dino mode.
Super limiting without that; especially for how Grimlock held his arms in the cartoon often.

I don't often call for upgrades, but I'd be down for someone to produce replacement dino arms. It would be a simple pop of the ball joint and popping the new and better articulated arms in.

After giving up completely on finding Grimlock in the wild, today I went with the wife to pick up her prescriptions at CVS Pharmacy inside Target. Something was pulling at me to go to toys. I did. Low and behold this chunky bot was waiting for me on the shelf. Of course I nabbed him faster than The Donald ordering Big Mac from McDonalds. :lol

Anyway, hes huge, blocky and amazing just like his MP Likeness.

So glad to finally have SS Grumpy McMoonboots!!!
