The episode wasn't about fans wanting an action show, it was about not wanting a comedy, and for the show to be dark and mature. It's true that the writing staff speak to the naysayers. In fact, while TTG makes many comments about how the fans prefer the 2004 series, even the 2016 Ben 10 reboot makes fun of fans who like Ben 10 Alien Force which was a darker and more mature show. Part of the reason why the original Teen Titans series was revived for the movie is likely because at least TTG made CN aware of how much fan miss the original show, since CN loves to cancel their shows e.g. Thundercats, Ben 10, Green Lantern and Young Justice (although Young Justice was revived).

I wish I could like this post more than once. People said the same crap about Beast Wars and Animated back in the day, too, and now they're some of the most beloved Transformers shows ever. At least give these shows a chance first before decrying them as the worst things ever.

It totally is. Lol. Obviously someone is watching these shows and someone likes the cartoony style and juvenile humor. Obviously it's not grown ass fans.

The stuff that grown ass fans enjoyed-- FAILED a lot. He-Man (2002) cancelled. Thundercats (2011) cancelled. Teen Titans (2003) cancelled. Young Justice (2010) cancelled but finally resurrected after a long hiatus.

There have been successes (Voltron (2016), Star Wars Rebels, TMNT (2012)) but you gotta accept that a more traditional action/adventure show won't always succeed and that sometimes the comedy shows work really well.

Thems the breaks. If kids don't watch your show, it's gonna get canned. And kids are kinda on a cartoony/humor kick right now. Everything is cyclical and everything follows trends. Eventually the needle will return to the more traditional stuff. Regardless, none of this is targeted at us anyway.

And even if you consider the show a success, Voltron as a toyline bombed. Or at least, never caught on enough to have much of a presence.

Honestly it's longevity as a show is the exception to the rule of kids media these days.

Allow me to elaborate: I don't think a cartoon should be a huge mess of fanwank that's specifically pointed towards an incredibly niche audience and will be a financial disaster for everybody involved. I like humor in cartoons. I think it's absolutely a necessity; cartoons should be filled with levity and brightness, something to make you smile. To be a simple thing.

    However.

If it will be a lighthearted, simple, nice thing, it should do so tastefully. My biggest concern here is presentation. Art should be, in a sense, beautiful, even in simple things like cartoons. A good example of this within Transformers would be something like Animated. I know beautiful is a really weird word to describe that show, but stick with me. It has a fun, flashy style that provides for a lot of humor and levity, while still being a tasteful, more traditional art style instead of Facebook-tier Bauhaus. Art should reflect reality to a point (which sounds super bizarre as it concerns transforming robots who turn into cars, but the point still stands), instead of being an ugly mess that ultimately proves meaningless.

It survived through sheer force of angry fujos. Like a reverse MLPfim, where adult women latched onto it so hard that they outcompeted all the little boys.

Okay if it's like Rise of The TMNT, it has potential.

Interesting premise. Wondering if the “new species” will be Mini-cons (Armada ftw!) or like others have said maximals or pretenders. Of course, it could be a completely new kind of Transformer we’ve never seen been before.

Good to see it’ll have half-hour long episodes. Makes me wonder if this is aiming for the 5 to 10-year old demographic. Gonna be weird seeing Transformers as Nicktoons.

Don't underestimate a producer who's got Rescue Bots under her belt. That ran over a decade.

And that show was all about humans/robots working together. Would be a good sign about how this show would treat that relationship.

Just cause it's expensive doesn't mean its art.

Art should be pretty. It should reflect truth and the beauty of the world we live in. It should not be a mess of nothingness we enlightened moderns place arbitrary value upon. That piece looks like something I could have fingerpainted when I was 6. It does not look like it's worth 58 million dollars. It took no effort, requires no skill. In short, there is no art in creating said "art".

The Nickelodeon show doesn't have anything to do with BotBots. The BotBots show is going on Netflix.

There are a thousand different definitions of art, many of them do not include transformers cartoons.
If someone takes a picture of their neighbor’s house, it reflects the world around them, it can even look quite pretty. Personally I wouldn’t consider that art as in my mind art has to be made with some kind of intent.

if Jackson Pollock isn’t art, and a beautifully decorated fishtank isnt art, and Thomas Kinkade isnt art, then I think art might be one of those things like religion and politics where nobody can agree on anything.

Art doesn't need your permission to be art. And the whole point is that even if you personally don't like some art doesn't mean it can't be loved and successful with support from others.

Hell, I think the Bay movies sucked... but they made billions so clearly I'm not the majority.
