Not including MPM, not including MP repaints that weren't part of the MP line.
    New moulds in bold:

2012: Starscream, Sideswipe, Red Alert, Sunstorm
2013: Soundwave, Prowl, Bluestreak, Smokescreen, Tigertrack, Black Convoy
2014: Wheeljack, Bumblebee, Ultra Magnus, Soundblaster, G2 Sideswipe, Silverstreak, EVA Convoy, Gold Megatron, BAPE Convoy
2015: Star Saber, Tracks, Road Rage, Exhaust, G2 Bumblebee, Skywarp, Thundercracker, Clampdown, Blue Bluestreak, Red Bumblebee, BAPE Convoy
2016: Ironhide, Hot Rod, Shockwave, Ramjet, Ratchet, Optimus Primal, Inferno, Anime Red Alert, Thrust, Delta Magnus, Loud Pedal
2017: Cheetor, Grapple, Megatron, Sunstreaker, Dirge, Artfire, Optimus Primal repaint, Anime Sideswipe, BAPE Convoy, Nightstalker/Stripes/Wingthing/Enemy
2018: Dinobot, Cordon, TM Hot Rod, Anime Prowl, Anime Shockwave, Toy Megatron, Shadow Panther, 7-Eleven Convoy,
2019: BW Megatron, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Blackarachnia, Hound, Anime Bluestreak, Anime Wheeljack, LEBRON Convoy
2020: Lio Convoy, Tigatron, Arcee, Black Convoy, Spinout, Anime Smokescreen, Burning Convoy, DUCK CAMO Convoy
    2021: Starscream, Thundercracker

Two new moulds in 2012, 2 repaints
Two new moulds in 2013, 4 repaints
Three new moulds in 2014, 6 repaints
Two new moulds in 2015, 9 repaints
Five new moulds in 2016, 6 repaints
Four new moulds in 2017, 9 repaints
One new mould in 2018, 7 repaints
Five new moulds in 2019, 3 repaints
Three new moulds in 2020, 5 repaints
One new mould in 2021, one repaint

Didn't count the coneheads as new moulds since I'm not counting Grapple as a new mould (and he only shares 50% of parts with Inferno)

So 2016 and 2019 were good years, but 2018 was absolutely shite.
The average number of new moulds is 3 (not including 2021 in that calculation), so 2020 was basically an average year.
2021 could end up being a below average year if we only get Starscream and Skids as new moulds, but that could be compensated next year by a large number.

Agreed, these figures deserve to be savored.

Although it could be that those calling for the next reveal simply aren't interested in what has just been revealed.

Like, for me personally, the only announced MP that I'll be picking up this year so far is Starscream. While that satisfies my G1 wants pretty well, I am starting to get a little impatient waiting for the next BW announcement.

Well, that's fair, it's been a while since the last BW announcement. In fact everything's come out, hasn't it? BW fans have got nothing to look forward to at the moment.

It's only February. We've got ALOT of year to go. The last half of the year has recently seemed to be the most MP heavy, so don't lose hope yet.

Yeah, the last BW release (Tigatron) came out in October. I think this was the first time they didn't even at least tease the next entry before or around its release. And it's been 5 months of radio silence since then.

At least those seekers are looking mighty good!

I think they might be cautious about BW because of the Kingdom line. Hell, some folks reckon the Megatron is better than the MP...

I get that there's a distinction, but for casual fans (can a casual fan really be casual if they buy MP?) they can get a whole cast in 2021 if they want to.

I just wonder if they might pause them for now.

Yeah, G1 MP continued through Seige and ER, but Seige wasn't the same as G1, and ER dominated 2020 which was a 3 mould year (one of which was a waifu so was always getting made!). But G1 MP is also the lifeblood of the line, so that might explain why ER didn't impact it the way I'm suggesting about BW.

Or I could be totally wrong and they drop a double figure announcement later today. Who knows?

Who are these people, BW Megatron and Primal are about the only 2 BW I would recommend for someone not into BW but money burning a hole in their pocket.:)

G1 has an advantage BW doesnt have and that's the crossover to collectors who may focus on other things. I mentioned that before that perhaps they didnt want to saturate the market, it's no different than here, the $20 or $30 version is more than enough for some people, basically taking them out of the MP equation.

That's about all Skids has going for him. That and his price is probably going to closer to Sunstreaker or Inferno I would guess, limited articulation in knees and elbows possibly no face swapping. This is going to feel like a
Hasui bot in all the bad sense of things you want fixed about them. Dont want to sound too negative, but the lack of articulation will make this feel outdated compared to the last 5 years. Honda must have had some serious conditions for this, Id imagine with their cooperation with this they literally wanted G1 toy ease.

Yeah I have almost no interest at all in what TT are doing with Skids. Feels like a backwards step in articulation, and the aesthetics don't fit at all with where the line has been going the past seven years. Cool for those that still pine for the random aesthetic though.

The Seekers more than make up for it, hopefully Skywarp teleports in before the end of the year.

As someone who wants to see a + release of Sunstreaker with the extra detailing and who hasn't replaced his Hasui-era MPs I think Skids will fit right in.

If your jam is the newer MPs then it'll at least fit in as well as the Datsuns do (even with the + repaints) with all their arm, leg and torso detailing... Though we need to see how detailed they go with the final colours first to make that judgement I guess.

I'm more concerned the new seekers look like the odd ones out in my personal MP collection.

    Ahhhh Skids.....

Instapass. I have no attachment to the character, hell, had I not been on this forum I wouldn't have even known he was in the toon. That and I don't care for his looks in robot mode and alt-mode. And with the prices TT is charging these days it makes it even easier to pass.

I guess I'm just not an aestheticist (did I just make up a word?), because I think he looks great. And I think it's super cool that these images were posted by Honda's Twitter, it's awesome to see the car company doing its own promoting here!

Honda tweeting it out is pretty cool. Helps if you dont think of this not as MP skids, but like a crossover like BTF and Ghostbusters. This is simply a Honda turbo that transforms into a robot.
I dont even think its aesthetic that will be the nail in the coffin for some people, but the backward step on articulation and lack of options we get like face swaps. That I actually find pretty disappointing

I’m actually really jazzed about Skids. Partly, it’s that I have a fondness for weird, lost, characters like him, but also, I really loved that Inferno-V2 Megatron-Sunstreaker run. Perfect balance of form, style, and complexity in that stretch of the line.

What’s the release date onStarscream? I thought it was June, but maybe it’s March? I haven’t looked since I preordered it with HLJ so long ago.
