for me it's because im not really comparing to current 3p primes, by the time this releases we'll probably see a colored prototype and release date for transcraft's prime will will probably be screen accurate in both modes, with this i was considering getting it instead since it would be a cheap alternative, for something that'll have decent price they nailed the robot but they really flopped on the vehicle, there is a heck ton of bits that have no where to go in vehicle mode such as the window visor which could easily either slide together or have piece to put between them so it looks like part of the vehicle rather than leftover robot stuff just like the ss did, the shoulder bits are exposed quite a bit and people have jokingly compared them to ear, and the truck bed which i wish they would've attempted perhaps a more complex form of the ss or at the very least find a place to hind the shins

 

I was just about to say the same thing, the whole shoulder neck area is also really nice on the MPM

Truck can looks like it tabs together much more solidly as well

Edit: It's a shame the colours are so brightly saturated though, and the blue windows don't look good

MPM ratchet had a similar colour issue.

This looks pretty good. I will buy it. In fact it looks pretty darn good, without most of the usual back kibble or anything, although they did already pull that off in studio series.

But it doesn't excite me as much as I'd hoped. Perhaps it was the reveal of the first prototype of TMT's knight Optimus on the same day? That thing looks AMAZING. Anyway, I wish they'd found a way to hide the triangular bits on the shoulders in truck mode, and it's kind of disappointing that they just threw a G1-style matrix in there without any sort of redesign or reimagining.

I’m glad I have SS 38. Something about this doesn’t look right.

I think I’m going to have to see this in hand next to SS38 to be convinced this is worth purchasing.

So what they're doing now is sacrificing alt mode for a good robot mode. Starscream, Ratchet, and now this.

 

I don’t know why but I find it hilarious how the MPM has the truck doors as underarm kibble just like the SS figure.

 

I think people is relating this to what happened to past Target exclusive such as Cobra Island figures.
