Created a 3D printed rocket launcher for SS86 Jazz. Not really much else to say. Hope you guys like it. There wasn't much room to attach it but I managed to make a clip that went over the back of his chest near his shoulder. Doesn't fit as snugly as I'd like - the area it clips onto flares out a bit which throws the whole thing off but the car roof holds it in alright. I'll probably print it again at some point - I was impatient and used a 50 micron layer height and you can see layer lines in a lot of spots. Next time I'll print at a higher resolution and do a better job sanding.

Thank you! I also have a thread for the figure with the paint touch-ups I did as well as the reprolabels here. Really enjoying this figure! But I wouldn't say he's complete just yet - next up is fillers for his arms and legs.

Glad you like it. Hope printing goes well for you. Let me know if you think it needs any adjustments - it worked well for me but let me know if there's any tolerance issues or anything when you print it.

Good job! It doesn't look overtly '3D printed'.

First test prints of the fillers. Both failed - had to file down a few areas to get them to fit and the wrist filler doesn't fit with the hands folded in nor can they fold out far enough to allow the hands to swing in. Leg filler isn't tight enough around that black peg or the knee joint so it just falls out. I'm making the adjustments and I'll print another copy tomorrow and see if they fit better.

Once the fillers are correct, I'm going to try to make a version of the leg fillers with open windows and see if I can get a piece of lexan in there then try to color match it to the rest of his windows.

Thanks! I sanded it and put the paint on kinda thick but there's still a few places where it shows. Well, it shows on camera and if I hold it close to my face - not super obvious in hand.

    Thanks!

Your missile launcher & the filler panels look great! Thanks a bunch for sharing the files.

I'm really glad your Jazz survived the (excellent looking) Reprolabels. I've already heard of two people whose Jazz's clear plastic canopies cracked/broke under the light pressure from applying the labels.

Thank you! Weird about the breakage. His canopy doesn't feel fragile and I've handled him quite a bit and transformed him several times. I even filled in the peg hole and sanded the canopy and I wasn't super gentle. Maybe I just got lucky.

Revised designs for the fillers were a partial success. The calf fillers fit and lock in now. I think I'm going to dress them up a bit more and there's a tiny bit of tweaking I can do to their fit but they're mostly ready. The wrist fillers aren't going to work, though: I used a 1mm pin and slotted it into those little notches near the back of the gap - the ones that look like they're designed specifically for that purpose. I thinned down the hinge but his hand still can't clear it, so I tried putting just the pin in without the filler. His hand can't even clear that, so it looks like I'm going to have to make the arm fillers partsform as well. I was really hoping they'd integrate with his transformation but I'd have to create new hands as well and that's further than I want to go with this project... for now anyway. I've actually been thinking about making opening hands for him like SS86 Hot Rod and adding a wrist swivel but I'd need a more expensive durable resin to make that work and it would require knocking pins out which I don't like to do.

Minor update: I spent some time focused on another project but I'm still working on this. Added a bit of greeblies to the "boring" version of the leg filler.

That's the boring part. The fun part is the version I've hollowed out and given a transparent window.

It's still WIP but it'll be printed in two parts with the lexan sandwiched between. I'm going to add some greeblies to the inside that will be visible through the window. I'm going to have to experiment with the plexiglass but I'm thinking I'll have to create a two part mold, heat the lexan, then press it into shape. I'm hoping it's that easy. I also intend to cut up one of the remaining racing stripe stickers from the toyhax set (there were alternate options for a few areas) so the stripe appears to continue onto his leg fillers as if it's actually made from his roof.

Still to do: more greeblies as mentioned, create the mold for the lexan, and I need to change the forearm fillers to be a simple insert (partsforming) rather than installed with a hinge like I'd originally intended.

Another minor update. Getting close to being ready to print the new leg fillers. Opted for car parts instead of random techy greeblies to go in behind his window. Funny thing is I googled the Porsche 935 engine and came up with the wrong car (most of these parts are from the 935 JLP-4 rather than the 935/76) but I enjoyed its look so much I used some its parts and a few parts from the right car. They're all simplified and they're pretty much all wrong in one way or another but I was going more for what I thought looked cool (and easy to model) than accuracy.

    upload_2021-3-6_15-52-4.png upload_2021-3-6_15-52-25.png upload_2021-3-6_15-52-51.png
    upload_2021-3-6_15-53-34.png upload_2021-3-6_15-53-58.png

All that's left now is cleaning it up so it's easy to print (filling in the voids behind the parts so they're sturdy and don't need supports to print). Oh and I still need to revise the wrist fillers.

@Snaku this rocket launcher looks incredible. Would it work for TRANSFORM AND ROLL OUT HOVA or is it too small?

Way too small but there's no reason you can't scale the 3D file up. You'd need to engineer a new way to attach it to him, though: I'm sure the one I made for SS-86 Jazz wouldn't fit Hova.
