Yeah, don't bother =/ No SS86 figures as of last night @ Edgewater Target. There was nothing noteworthy except a Kingdom Warpath.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I'd rather go online and wait months rather than head in store anymore. Between this and trying to get my kids a single f*ing box of pokemon cards, going to stores aren't worth it anymore.

    Ebay:
    ABSOLUTE FACTS.
The price wasted in gas & utter frustration ends up more then the escalated price for online + shipping.

Especially 30 years ago I could go into a Kaybee, TRU, Woolworth or variety store and pickup a Thundertank, Turtle van or blimp, all types of Transformers and Gi Joe's. Except for Roadblock I have never seen any of the new Joe's or vehicles or Quintesson's, Sunstreaker and Trailbreaker and certain Neca Turtles are very scarce. I went on my run of 3 Target's and 2 WM and absolutely nothing on the shelf Transformers, ML or Neca Turtles.

The shame is, the closest Target isn't a far trip. Maybe five to six minutes tops. I pass by there when go to ShopRite for groceries. It's just crazy this is an era where people are buying up everything imaginable for the sole purpose of flipping. There's always been that market, but this is the worst, ever.

Agreed, and when the minimum wage employees are in on it, it makes it even worse. It’s crazy to me that when we were kids, toy lines had whole aisles devoted to them, while nowadays you get a few pegs which are usually empty. The reality of it is that kids these days don’t play with toys like we did. The action figure aisles are for adult collectors, at least that’s all I see perusing the pegs.

Keep in mind most stores don't get a lot of stock either. One or two cases of an assortment for the whole wave is normal. It's been a while since I worked retail but this was never high replenishment stuff like food or shampoo.

Why is it harder now then 30/40 year's ago? It's not parents of gen- z buying this stuff. I was born in 80 so anyone born between 77 and 84 are considered either a young gen-x or old millennium we are the one's buying the product, so why is it so hard to find certain things?

The pandemic I believe created a new wave of individuals buying up inventory for resale. For example, at Target there is a line of people, mostly 20s and 30s waiting for cards to be put on the shelves. Any type. PokeMon, sports, etc... all to be bought up and resold. Essentially they become the market. Same with action figures, if they aren't on the shelves, they are on eBay at a markup.

Yup, just wanted to add to this. Since I came back to collecting, roughly a month ago, I did 3 hunts. 1 hunt was just my local 3 town area. The hunt was roughly 2 hours, hitting every Walgreens, Target, and whatever else. That hunt found me literally nothing. Not 1 figure. Actually on that hunt, there wasn't even a TF figure on the shelves. Not even a shelf warmer.

The second hunt I did was a 7 hour hunt. I literally mapped out every single Target and Walmart for a good 40 mile area. I drove up and down and hit probably 30 stores. It was an extreme hunt to say the least. That hunt yielded me Warpath and Blurr. I did leave Elita one on the shelves (as I was unsure if I wanted to get her) and some netflix figures (Red Alert and Wheeljack).

The third hunt was thanks to Shadow Panther saying there was a Grimlock at a Target in North Brunswick, which is an hour drive from me. I then took another hour and found that was the day the Hasbro restocked Target and I found Hot Rod and Scourge.

Funny enough I found Blue/Silver Streak at Walgreens in Long Island when I was visiting a friend and he needed to stop in. So that was pure luck.

The reason I bring this up, is because all of the figures I mentioned here all came in stock at either Hasbro Pulse, Amazon or BBTS. I spent close to 11 hours hunting, and 1 $50 gas fill up to do this. I am writing it off, as coming back to collecting. I actually enjoyed the hunt and it was fun to find these figures on the shelf. I did get a kick from it. But for 11 hours of my life and $50, it really isn't worth it.

Funny thing is, the hunt is actually a really applicable term. Back in the 80s, you could go hunting for wildlife and find 100s if not 1000s to hunt. Now, we hunt for the all elusive deluxe at a target.

The lesson of the long post is, if you happen to be in a Walmart, Target, etc. just check the isles for fun. The hunt is dead. The only time to look is if others on here that are braving said hunt and say there is something somewhere. But even then, with the price of gas and tolls, really think about it. BBTS charges $4 for shipping. 1 gallon of gas, last I checked is like $2.70 a gallon. You're almost breaking even just on the drive there and back unless you have a car that is 40 miles to the gallon. That's not even equating for your time.

Nice, I recall you working retail. What are you up to now?

I totally agree with everything you said. Some days I love spending hunting, and I can’t tell you how many times this board and the great people on here have helped me. But I often think about the time and money wasted doing it. Unfortunately there are still some things (like Netflix Soundwave) I would never have obtained if I didn’t hunt.

I must have great Grimlock luck as last night there were six '86 Grimlocks at the Saddlebrook Walmart on Rt.46. There were three on the normal lower shelf and three others "hidden" on the top of the display shelf. There was also a lone Blurr on the peg that has been there for awhile.

I was about to head over, but HasbroPulse popped earlier today with an in-stock notice.
