I don't hate this character like some do, yes they are horrific looking, that was the whole deal with the character's story, as they came from a damaged protoform. The episode is a tale of somber tragedy.

If we ever get a new BW Rampage figure in Kingdom/Generations, I might have to pick this up.

I love the colors and hope they are just as vibrant on the final toy. There\'s a lot to like here with the goofy nightmare fuel that is Transmutate. It captures her essence in an updated sort of way, with more playability than the build-a-figure (and maybe better scale?), and much easier to obtain at this point in time.

That being said, as a one-off character, I\'m fine with my build-a-figure version, and will be passing.

I've noticed a tendency among some transformers fan to not really look beyond the design.

Ain't that a fact! Creepy AF! I love it! And I'm not even a fan of Transmutate. Hell, I wasn't even fond of the original episode. This can work just fine as a fossilizer, and if folks don't care for the head, just keep it hidden in dino mode. I'm enjoying the heck out of these fossilizers so far, and this looks to be a fun recolor of a very good mold (though lavender cyrstal rex is still my favorite at this point). I have no idea if they have any redeco's planned for Ractonite and Wingfinger, but I definitely hope so.

That said, I hope this doesn't stop us from getting a Fan Friday this week.

It wasn’t an accident, they just gave up hiding the roster because the listings and concept art for the ark got leaked

I mean, if the comics are trusted, and voice actor as well, Transmutate is a girl.

On further thought and realizing that my initial comment was rather light on explanation, I think the only reason I have a problem with this is the perceivable laziness of just making it a headswap with that blaster arm option instead of a second hand. Because yes, the original Transmutate (which, as I said, I liked as a character and I liked the episode of Beast Wars) was a nightmarish walking jumble of parts and pieces, but it was also certainly not an obvious skeletal dinosaur.

For me, making Paleotrex into Transmutate is like if they took the Kingdom Cheetor, swapped the paint apps from yellow to white and from blue to mint green, and said "there! Behold Kingdom Tigatron!". And in doing so they keep the cheetah spots deco, the Cheetor face, the Cheetah head, and every other aspect of the Cheetor figure except the colors. Sure, it's conceptually consistent with Tigatron being a mild retool of Cheetor and sharing the same basic transformation and body type. But it's also dressing up some kind of arctic-designs cheetah and telling us it's a totally different character we know looks obviously visibly different.

I wouldn't have minded if Transmutate was a retool/remold of Paleotrex, using the parts engineering and design concept but changing the skeletal parts for smoother, malformed technology style looking ones. Make her like the equivalent of the ER Datsuns vs the Siege ones, or Siege Chromia to the PotP fembot molds. Thematically similar and functionally in line in terms of engineering, but different enough that you know it's not just them re-using the same mold untouched.

I would want a Transmutate. But I don't want a gold and blue Paleotrex with a Transmutate head.

It's just an opinion, it's perfectly ok if you don't agree with everything that's being said. Nothing wrong with voicing one's opinion in the moment, even if everything that I'm saying is in fact complete and utter garbage, which it very well may be. It still doesn't make my opinion wrong or right, because it's just an opinion, and opinions can always change. And I would love nothing more, than for Hasbro to change my opinion, on how I personally feel that Hasbro is going to handle, future releases of Beastyformers. But right now looking at this Transmutate...I'm telling you...only the future will know for sure.

That's actually a very good point.

I know an announcement will come eventually, and yes, we only know what's coming because of leaks, but Toy Fair would've been the 13-14th of February, so if it weren't for COVID, we would have already seen all the new stuff by now. Also, anything they have coming out in August--which they do have, because they're a toy maker and Target and Wal-Mart both require new products for their fall resets which happen in August--would have all its packaging and product photos done by now, so Hasbro's just sitting on the reveals for their own convenience. Plus, they had FFF events the past couple Fridays, but none announced for this week, and then this is all we get? So sorry, I'm a little bit annoyed. I feel like Hasbro is deliberately drawing out the the Transformers reveals for some unknown reason.

You know instead of this lazy figure, Hasbro should just reissue the BAF parts from the 10th Annivarsary line. I missed out on that mold the first time because they came with figures I already had and had no desire to buy again just for a Build a Figure. But if they released that same Transmutate with the new Kingdom molds I would gladly pick those up. :)

My opinions on this topic don't just come across as pathetic, they are most definitely pathetic. But unfortunately because of my business mindset, this Transmutate release gives me strange pathetic feelings and opinions about Hasbro & the future of the Beastyformers. It's honestly just my opinion at the time, and most of the time my opinions sound completely and utterly ridiculous, even to me. Sometimes I'm spot on, and other times I'm completely wrong, and off in left field some place. And it doesn't even bother me at all, because I know for a fact that I'm not even close to being perfect. I actually enjoy a good debate, and if someone can change my opinion on a given topic, well that's always a good thing, it means I got smarter. But at the end of the day, whether my opinions are wrong or right, I'm glad someone was at least able to get some entertainment out of my utterances.

But honestly if my opinions really bother you, feel free to mute me, hell sometimes I'd mute myself. Or you could try reading all my post in a Starscream voice :thumb

Yes. The original version works because the head and color scheme actually fit the whole fossil aesthetic they have going on. Plus it's a new character and they managed to make sense out of Primal's mace that the original toy had. The reason Transmutate doesn't work is because her head and color scheme don't fit the body. It looks like they ripped her head off and just stuck it on a different character's body. And the color scheme looks unnatural on the mold compared to other fossilizers that are wonderfully painted in natural tones.

Probably for the same reason you don't find out about the Netflix version, until after you have already gotten the regular release. Probably going to milk the mold, my guess is first will come the GS Galvatron in toy accurate colors, second will be the mainline Kingdom version, and they will save the Netflix version with the premium deco for last.

    So would I! :thumb

I'm gonna pass on this as I've done on ALL of these Beast wars figures. They really don't do it for me but I'm happy others find them interesting and cool but not my thing.
