Love me some of that nightmare fuel. Do wish they'd done something more with the head. It seems out of place compared to the rest of the more detailed sculpt. The gold color is pretty nice and I like that her head ends up giving the dino mode a crest. Frankly though she was a given so I didn't have duplicate Paleotrex for the combination.
How hideous. It looks nothing like the on screen character. The original did it better. I see this being a shelfwarmer. Easiest of passes.
"Nightmare fuel" means they nailed the entire point of this character. Ideally I'd have rather seen a RED toy of Transmutate, but this serves the purpose well enough. The build a figure from 2006 is great, it just needed to be remolded to have articulation.
She’s beautiful, honestly. That deco is astonishingly good, and much better than I was expecting. The Paleotrex mold is a great fit for Transmutate; really captures the essence of her freaky, mutated protoform body. Really happy to see that articulated mouth as well! Instant PO
I really prefer for Transmutate to keep it's non-transforming Deformed Body. that's what made the poor thing so appealing to us all to begin with. Transmutate was a lot like Autobot-X to me but better since it had an actual Spark and was a damaged protoform. This just doesn't come off as a damaged malformed protoform to me.
Now, the question is can the proportions of the original be replicated with just 1 of the paleotrex mold?
I think it looks great, but the head is a smidge too small. I'm interested to see what fanmodes will come out to give her a bit more of the hunchback she had in the show. I also agree that she probably would've been better non-transforming, but this'll certainly do, and probably doesn't even rule out a R.E.D. or Ultimates figure down the line anyway.

And that's why it's a Selects release. Some like it, some don't, and that's okay since it's not mainline. Personally I love her.
The fact that this is real at all is utterly bonkers. You can rip her apart too, just like in the show! (and your heart)
I'd be a lot more on board with this figure if the teal was gray instead... it just REALLY clashes with the gold! Find it kinda weird that there's just sort of this "horn" poking out of the back of Transmutate's head... my guess is that it allows for clearance to get the face to swivel back and forth? Also really hope that there's more of an easier way to obtain this figure in Canada... would really appreciate it if it popped up at EB Games or TRU.
