The gray wings and hose are a bit of a bummer, but by no means a deal breaker. I love that red, I love that head. I love that they fixed the pegs.

I do think it was a bit of a missed opportunity not to have a peg hole in the front of the ladder assembly for the arm cannon. Generally the head hose stays in the same place on the figure, and it would have been nice to have the option as to which hose attachment you stick on the end. Not that I hate but they went with, it's nice to have a wave angling it forward.

Meh, the headwings were grey more often than white in the G1 animation so I'm fine with them being grey on Kingdom Inferno. Although my nostalgia from getting G1 Inferno for Christmas '85 still makes me kinda side eye the grey headwings just a wee little bit because we both know they're wrong...

Interesting. That explains why they painted the siren lights silver, as well.

I don’t know if its true but according to some animators, they use “white” instead of “silver”. I can’t recall the exact reason. However, that’s the reason why some mecha like Voltron had “white” instead of “silver”.

Tbh I don’t mind Hasbro using grey because of yellowing over time. The moment I see this figure at retail, I’m going to pick it up.

Agreed. I was loving all the various effects we were getting. I loved that SS Hot Rod and Scourge came with some new effects, but I'd really like to see more variety and colors.

I would really appreciate it, but honestly I wouldn't expect it in the slightest. Other than Rodimus who's a Deluxe+, Scourge is really the outlier here. A water effect part would be awesome, though, especially since I'm more a G2 guy.

... this does make me sad that my Universe 2.0 Inferno is pretty much obsolete now. It's still a great mold but between GDO Hotspot (which, inaccurate or not, is just fantastic looking to me) and this I really don't have a place for my beloved Inferno.

Sadly i dont either. However it still represents what i LOVED about old CHUG and that was modern updates and interpretations of the G1 cast rather than slavish remakes.

As a figure, I always thought that ER grapple is a figure full of potential; which was, unfortunately, let down by questionable cost-cutting measures and "meh" QC as the design by itself is perfectly good, it's quite posable and quite a nice-looking figure on paper.

As I would like to give this mold another chance, I decided to give Kingdom Inferno a try; just to see if this version fixed all of the flaws with Grapple, so why not. Honestly, Inferno is not too shabby of a figure. Some of the cost-cutting flaws with Grapple still remains (Like some of the visible hollowed out gaps), but luckily I can say that Kingdom Inferno fixes most of the pet peeves I have with Grapple; With much better OOB joint tolerances, more accessory loadout, better-painted head-sculpt, and Inferno just feels better and solid to play with than my Grapple.

Another thing I do love about this figure is that the fragile head/feet pegs with Grapple, has finally been fixed with Inferno; With the pegs themselves being much shorter and has no hollow gaps, significantly reducing the chance of breakage.

I do wish that this figure includes something like a water-blasting effect part (Just like how SS86 Hot Rod and Scourge includes blast effect parts), but other than that this figure is pretty nice and a much-needed improvement over ER Grapple.

I do look forward to seeing this figure being done as Artfire, but until then I could say that this is the definitive version of this particular mold to buy.

Found 1 in a sea of Dinobots. Is this guy shortpacked? If you have Grapple, you know how Inferno works. Different enough to make double dipping worth it but, don't expect something drastically different.

Pretty sure he's single packed, against two Dinobots.

This is why I'm gonna be hunting down Botcon Pyro and GDO Hot Spot pretty soon. Paint the Hot Spot head and slap it on Pyro and the mold with still have a nice representative on my shelves. It's too good a toy to not have somewhere.

I grabbed Inferno from an unopened Voyager 3-case (2x Dinobot, 1x Inferno) at Wal-Mart on Cortaro in Tucson. Thank you to the kindly associate who cut it open for me!

    wfc_kingdom_inferno.png

Thanks to Cyberverse Hot Rod and Siege Jetfire who donated effect parts for this shot, he won't be putting out any fires today...

    Notes on this figure:
    - The red painted plastic has a wonderful, silken texture that has a great optical quality. It looks really nice in indoor lighting and has a nice depth.
    - The unpainted red plastic is slightly more translucent than the red painted plastic, but not to a degree that it clashes with the painted parts. It honestly still looks "good" and "solid", though naturally more light enters and illuminates the plastic than with the painted parts.
    - The paint process has applied some detail darkening to the red painted areas, but there is no paint work on the red plastic areas. If you're into model painting, some detail highlight will greatly enhance the lines of this figure on those areas. I haven't done this yet, but check out his legs and you'll see they've done a great job with the detail lines. Accentuating them could look really nice if you know what you're doing.
    - The stock wheels are great. They have a lot of detail, including small rivets and a painted hubcap. They are hard plastic like the rest of the figure, though, so if you're inordinately excited by rubber, seek ye the aftermarket.
    - The 5mm ports on my unit were all solid and fit the accessories well, snug but not tight.
    - The small effect ports on the guns are too short and too skinny. I had a very hard time getting any of the effect parts to sit on them, and a small vibration caused them all to fall off. At least they tried. Compare with SS-86 Blurr or Cyberverse Wave Cannon Shockwave whose weapon effect ports are less than 1mm in length. Since all of the effect parts are soft plastic, I feel like it's better if the attachment pegs are a tiny bit over tolerance. We can always sand them down. If they are too small, there is no clean, easy, reversible solution.
    - Some damage was done to the figure by whoever attached the pin to his left leg ankle tilt mechanism. The housing for the head of the pin is chipped and a bit of the plastic is knocked out, hanging by a thread. It's not visible in any of his modes and I don't care very much. We're all human, including factory drones.
    - In general, the factory did good work with their nippers. I don't see gouges or leftover sprue materials on any of his parts.
    - There are one or two minor mars to the paint on his thighs where someone bumped a tool into the wet paint. Pretty amateurish but not noticeable from the front.
    - All of the ratchets, joints, and mechanisms are well-tuned and have just the right amount of resistance, making his posing and articulation truly enjoyable. This is among the most important attributes to me, so I'm really happy with whoever assembled this figure.
    - I had many more problems with my Power of the Primes Inferno figure and he doesn't look great, being a half-cocked Onslaught retool. This new inferno does a GREAT job representing him in my Autobot shelf!

I really dig Inferno, for some reason he was one of the figures I was anticipating most from the ER/KD line.
Mine has a bit of a paint defect on his face that makes it look like he's drooling, but overall he's freaking great.

Anyone else have an Inferno with a crooked head in package. Wondering if this is normal or maybe a sign of potential issues.
