Couldn't a Nautica be used for a remold/repainted of Wingblade and Slipstream? Like how rodimus was used for override and getaway.

 

That would be pretty epic. And the grandness of this figure is befitting of Spreem’s greatness. Not that he doesn’t need it but it’s only respectful.

 

I can see her being able to be re-tooled into Firestar, but I really don’t see how they could get Windblade out of her.

(It’s also heartbreaking we won’t see a voyager sized IDW Arcee from MMC. Seems like that boat has sailed; since we have the tiny deluxe ones and the Ox one that doesn’t fit into the IDW aesthetic  

Our best hope for a IDW Arcee would be from Planet X or G-Creations at this point I think.)

Also, Windblade coming out with IF also makes me just as sad. She’ll be “Mp sized” and likely not resemble much of her IDW-self.

It also makes me wonder if MMC is spreading themselves a little thin; how well did Cross Dimension go again for MakeToys? We already have enough zealots as is who stick their noses up at 3P; just imagine now when they characters they love end up looking drastically different and giving them even more of a reason not to support these figures/this line.

I know I’m a random nobody; but as neat looking as the IF stuff is/seems to be; I won’t ever be purchasing anything from that line. I just don’t have the interest, funds or shelf space to dedicate to an entire new collection of “random” reimagining’s at a MP scale/price range.

 

Well they’re not the different in size at points. I mean if she’ll be carbot sized that’ll go with Reformatted easily with figures like Calidus. Unless her jet mode is sized to something like the MP Seekers.

We also haven’t seen much if anything from the line. Apart from lady Tarn which was looking pretty IDW style. So i don’t think there’s a clear line to be drawn on aesthetic differences at the moment.

I believe we have been told the IF line will be “MP” sized. And Lady Tarn will be “MP” size - I’m assuming she’ll be as tall as MP-10 is. I think I may have even heard that elsewhere; but I may be very much mistaken.

That leads me to believe whilst the “cars” will be voyager sized (MP car bots are voyager size), then Windblade will be MP seeker sized - and also transform into a Earthmode kind of Jet; instead of her very pretty and stylized IDW alt-mode self.

IF looks, neat I suppose, the artwork for Lady Tarn actually looks like they commissioned Alex Milne himself to do it — but it sadly isn’t interesting enough to me, to plop down money on a whole new line of stuff that doesn’t fit anywhere in my collection.

I whole heartedly wish MMC the best of luck on this venture, but if MakeToys taught us anything, it was that not many people care about not-not-Megatron and the like.

 

That's what I'm a bit concerned with as well. MMC is one of my favorite 3p companies, up there with Planet X and Generation Toy, and I wish them all the best even if I don't collect their Ocular Max line any longer. However, it's been said several times that one of the issues that plagued Maketoys during the last couple years of their run was that their Cross Dimension line fared much worse than they expected. From what I understand, their first product in Striker Manus did well, since Prime generally always does well, but all their future ventures did worse and worse - considering it was a bit of a passion project for them, it must have been pretty discouraging. I hope MMC blows everyone's expectations out of the park with IF so that it can be as successful as possible though.

 

Yeah, that's another thing: SXS teasing her didn't help. We've been waiting to see what they would do with it.

Yeah, designers talk between each other a lot about projects they're working on and what they should look out for. Even then you'll always learn from your own mistakes and successes. Sometimes I look back at the work I did a few years ago, including some cancelled projects, and I realize just how far I've come.

You're right that they look alike, but that will never ever happen. I don't think most people even remember that exists until they're reminded of it.  

On the wishlist but nothing yet as far as I am aware.

No way will that ever happen on a big figure. It'd be more fitting for that Warpath we revealed.

Transformations are too different. And both characters would deserve their due.

I think you're being a little pessimistic. Wait until we've revealed some more stuff for IF. We're confident people will dig what we have in store.

Lady Kultur is about the same size as regular Kultur. Maaaybe half a head taller?

 

I know you guys have Alex K. and other talented designers working on IF, and I'm excited to see what's coming. But hear me out on this:
Get Shoji Kawamori to make a transforming space plane for IF, anything he wants. MM Spacy!

Thank you so much for all those replies! And yeah, I tend to be a little pessimistic from time to time, haha   Hearing how Lady Tarn wont be that much taller than MMC Tarn, makes me quite a bit more interested indeed.

I'll save anymore pessimism until things are actually revealed. I'm feeling it a bit more thanks to your replies! Always appreciated.

 

I'm personally glad that Lady Kultur is gonna be regular Kultur, makes her fit in my collection better.

I love how every Reformatted thread just turns into everyone discussing what other Reformatted toys they want. Not complaining, actually just here for it.

Could Nautica be retooled into Anode? Their alt modes are pretty different, but maybe there's a way to take some liberties with Anode and make her into a biplane using the rotors on Nautica's wings? (Yeah, I guess this is feeling like a bit of a stretch... but I want both characters, darn it.)

 

Well, surely you guys could just release one before they do? Unless that’s the reason and you’re worried that if you do people with start another figure war?

That's a shame. IDW Cyclonus needs a figure made to today's MMC standard.

 

This is a very entitled way at looking at the IF line.

Plenty of people are interested in the MP scale lines, so to try to write it off as an inevitable failure before it's even taken off is ridiculous.

You're interested in the CHUG scale. Good for you. There's already product for you there, both offical and 3rd party.

It's like being mad at company's focusing on pocket size scale. They'll always be a market for things YOU don't like.

I'm personally in favor of more MP scale TFs myself.

 

MMC AND PLANET-X are the only ones who consistently make IDW chug and to me that's not enough because it's what I collect but it keeps us wanting more so the companies sell well. Masterpiece has to many companies producing transformers and that makes the market hard to succeed in especially given it want be g1 which dominates the masterpiece market. I get where honesty is coming from I want MMC to stick to reformatted so I get more characters that will scale with my collection because that's the reason I choose MMC is because they give me characters no one else will. But I also wish MMC luck and hope the If line success beyond there wildest dreams.

 

Basically a MP line where we can go, 'what if?'. What if the next Tarn is a female Decepticon, what if this character was in G1, what if this famous car was a Transformer. It's something that will give us more freedom to be creative while still giving people what they want.

Bit of a stretch probably. But I also don't know how her transformation even works. Anode is also extremely unlikely to ever happen, because even calling her a D-lister would be generous.

Yeah we don't want a figure war. These days we prefer to avoid competition where possible.
