I get that thos is from a bygone era of voice over work, but there is just something that's never been duplicated among post G1 voice work: the voice modulation. Welker and Cullen are exquisite actors in the field, but without the modulation, Megatron and Prime just feel...lacking? They overdid it in the Unicron Trilogy and used a modulated effect that was just...off (and not Peter/Frank)
The best part was the interaction with Beachcomber and Warpath. I always liked that scene, however here you can hear Oppenheimer accidentally blend some Warpath lines with Beachcomber's as he morphs from one character into the other. Sounded like he was having a lot of fun though. I agree, they've never got it as good since. Especially in the series where they felt the need to modulate every characters voice.
And it's applied very cleverly. The autobots seem to have some sort of low pitched chorus effect creating a warm robotic sound. The decepticons on the other hand have distortion and some phaser effect making their voice sound harsh. Even some of the sub groups have their own modulation style. The Dinobots, the Insecticons and the season 2 space characters (Omega, Cosmos and Astrotrain) They really put effort and thought into it and it's I guess one of the 'secret ingriedents' what sets G1 apart of other shows
Awesome , I think this is the last one they have? Correct? Going to miss these . Wish someone would give us extended editions of all of these eps now . Hope the other eps show up some day .

Man, that was a lot of fun. Especially since I was watching Dinobot Island just last night. To hear all their voices clearly without the background music is a real eye opening treat. The voice acting for Megatron (Welker) and Starscream (Lotta) are gems of the industry but I really enjoyed Cullens’ voice this time. The gravely texture and energy of Ironhide’s voice and that calming punch of Optimus’ voice is something SPECTACULAR. Cullens is a national treasure. Also, how hilarious is it to imagine these pro sound/voice actors sitting in a room, making all those gibberish caveman noises with full slack jaws and tongues hanging out? Ha!
Yeah this is the last of the Transformers episodes we have We'll be sharing a couple of others over the coming months from a few other shows starting with a G.I.Joe episode. Really hope the others turn up or, if they have, those who have them will share the audio. It brings a tear to the eye hearing new lines from actors who are no longer with us. You are most welcome. We'll keep looking and hunting. Totally agree. I love hearing the audio without the BG, it's like a radio play and they are so clear.
