We're still arguing about the boobs. We're still... Arguing... About the boobs. Still. Ok. I'm gonna do my best to explain this in a way everyone can understand, because there's a really simple optical trick at play here and no interpretation is wrong. If you think the figure looks natural, you're right. If you think the breasts are too low, you're also right. Basically, Arcee has the shape of a skinny woman with small-ish breasts, but with compromised geometry in the upper chest. It's all in the top part of the breastplate that slopes up from the "nipple line", and how the angle of that slope relates to the "neckbrace" (aka dat necc). Full disclosure: Am straight male, have touched boobie. Warning: diagram contains censored boob Spoiler I hope this helps some people here see eye-to-eye, because now my google history is full of "low perky breasts". You're welcome.
If anyone on here watches The Office (please be somebody!) this reminds me of the episode where Oscar explained in detailed, scientific terms, how Hilary Swank actually isn’t hot. That being said, I totally agree with you. I’m totally fine with people saying that the figure’s chest isn’t screen accurate—it’s when people say she has “grandma boobs” that bothers me. I think I’ve said this in a previous post, but it’s the breakup in the white collar and pink butterfly joints that gives it the illusion that they’re too low. People should look at it this way: her white collar isn’t a normal one that just stops at the base of the neck; it extends past it, further down her chest. That white part isn’t her entire neck, it’s more like the upper section of her chest. It’s weird because at first glance, it makes her chest look low, but at the same time her neck looks super long. Odds are, if someone tries to draw boobs without reference or experience, they’d most likely draw them too high on the torso and look like balloons. I think sometimes we’re trained to see them that way. I understand the other side of the argument though. The cartoon shows her wearing kind of a tanktop/vest kind of thing that slopes from her shoulders, making her chest look like a pyramidal polygon. I just wouldn’t call them “grandma boobs”. Let’s just face it, TT designers were just horny at the time.
Aka an optical illusion. Because it's a slow day. Btw, I wonder what the census is of people who complains about her breasts and those actually buying her? Is this a case of souring fruit?
Yeah, I dunno what he means - that's basically exactly my overall shape and proportions. To be fair I think all Japanese designers of female collectors figures must have been 'horny at the time'.
What's weird is that when I first saw the figure I thought the chest looked weird but the more and more people who complain about the chest make it start to look fine in my eyes. I almost bought her as my first G1 MP because she just looks so nice.
Like a lot of MPs, she looks much better in hand. You should give her a shot! The chest is definitely not perfect, but the rest of her is so great it becomes much less of an issue. Her sculpt and colours really pop. Extra Bonus: I have young kids and last weekend I happened to have Arcee out and she went really well with my kids' Valentines Day decorations.
God every time this thread gets frontpaged I say a silent prayer of thanks that I never had a sister or a daughter.
Likewise; I wonder if they've seen the real thing or not. Poor bastards (if that's the case). There's still time, you just have to belieeeeeeeve.... But, in any event, the chest plate doesn't seem so prominent in hand as it's a very small part overall. Also, as mentioned by MANY, the butterfly shoulder joints do give it the slant that most feel is missing.
Got time to kill. MP-51 thread 391 (as of this posting goes from page 1 to 2) Third Party Azalea thread 192 page 9 Rouge thread 322 pages page 9 Nicee thread 78 pages page 28
Just presenting the stats as is. And yes, I noticed that too. Frankly, though, not see what the big deal with her design is, she is "Nice to see"
Same here. I'm disappointed that a third party has yet to provide us with any options, and as time goes on, the likelihood of it happening decreases exponentially. Still can't believe Takara thought designing her chest like this was worth it just to give her some additional arm movement.
The extra arm movement was just a side bonus. The chest was designed that way because the designer wanted it to be that way.
Nothing wrong with the chest so to speak, its the same design as thrilling 30 Arcee. The big difference is instead one one big clean piece, that part ends up made of 4 or 5 different pieces, with the breaks being visible.
