Can't tell which worse, that or a game based on a cartoon no one watches...

Sadly, we're gonna be 2 gens of ports and counting (ps5 and xboxsX showed us exactly that).

I'm at least interested in ninja garden since I never owned it.

 

so the payoff announcement is a remake of the crappiest Zelda game I can remember trying. Maybe theres' a REASON Nintendo stopped doing Directs.

 

A decent Direct, with a variety of announcements, and a few surpises for me. Miitopia interests me, because its been a while since I've played a Mii game. Also, I remember playing a bit of Skyward Sword, but never having completed it, due to me prioritising other games, but this remaster might be the great oppertunity for me to revisit this entry.

I'm glad the main directs are making a comeback, and I look forward to the next one!

 

Someone on Twitter posted a gif from the old Double Dare kids' game show from back in the day, in response to the Splatoon 3 news. I always knew there was a reason I found the neon brightly colored slime with competitive elements vibes of Splatoon nostalgic. Now I remember why.  

 

I did at least like that they were upfront about BotW2. It ain't easy with a pandemic people doing a shitty job in countering...

 

Personally, this reminded me of the console version of CP2077  

 

I'm so glad I got my wish for AOC DLC! SS remake is also exciting.

 

That game looks kinda funny

 

Regarding Skyward Sword HD, I kind of wonder if they're going to add any new features or content not mentioned in the Direct. Wouldn't be surprised if we saw Amiibo integration since Nintendo is still supporting it (as recently as Super Mario 3D World last week) and there are plenty of Zelda-specific amiibo they've put out (and could reissue).

 

Aside from the comedic moments in the trailer, Pyra's trailer was terrible. How did she get in the game? Hell, even Master Kogha or Goomba are better choices.

 

You should try it. That game was the only thing in the direct that surprised me and I was actually looking forward too, Especially when Disney owns the rights to the game. (Not sure if they still do.)

 

Pyra (as well as Min-Min) only got in the game because they were characters Sakurai wanted, but couldn't get into the game due to time restraints. Ultimate's roster was finalized in late 2016.
But, I didn't want Pyra either. I'm grateful we got her, but I felt like Ultimate added no one I legitimately wanted in a Smash Bros game. And those characters are under 10.

 

Steve (Excluding Pirahna Plant) is the only character thus far I've actually been excited for. Kinda disappointing too considering this is supposed to have everyone.

 

I actually forgot to mention Banjo, Steve and Piranha Plant. Those were characters I either wanted or wanted to play as.
Characters I want or just would enjoy their inclusion are:

• Shantae
• Scorpion
• Doomguy
• Master Chief
• Rayman
• Crash Bandicoot
• Shadow (already an assist trophy).

My problem with the roster is the newcomers lack "wow" factor. These are pretty expected or heavily requested characters, nothing mind blowing like Mr. Game and Watch or Wii Fit.

 

I mean look at Steve, he broke twitter. The rest of these are, no offense to fans, ooh another sword anime character.

 

Nothing wrong with anime swordfighters. Hero was by far the most exciting addition for me. Actually jumped out of my chair when they showed the classic Dragon Quest heroes in that trailer~

 

That's fine we are all looking for different things when it comes to fighters. I am happy there are people legitimately out there who wanted these characters and I understand the hate from people who didn't want someone like say Byleth. The developers work hard and I respect that.
My problem with sword fighters is they are kinda over saturated in Smash Bros. There isn't enough unique fighting styles or weapons, just mostly swords. There are only a few sword fighters who standout besides swinging and the occasional elemental attack. Someone like Master Chief or Doomguy could add guns to the mix, and change up gameplay.

 

That's why I really respect Min Min, although I haven't bought her, it's good to know that there's a character with such variety.

 

Most characters function in similar ways regardless of their weapon though. There isn't much difference between punching/kicking or slashing an opponent and it seems to me they've switched up how the sword wielders characters fight to avoid Marth clones. Swordfighters still only take up about 1/4 of the roster which isn't even that many when you consider how many characters use swords in Japanese video games.

 

Cuz Sakurai specifically mentioned no Arms or Xenoblade 2 characters before Ultimate launched so now the fighter pass 2 gives them that option.
