I still want this figure. I missed out when they were cheap. Was out of a job at the time. Now that I have a job again, these things are competing with the FansToys Sovereign reissue in terms of price. I just want to replace that piece of crap Masterpiece Shockwave with something good already.

Personally I think it is time for a new MP Shockwave that combines an enjoyable and no worries transformation, toy-accurate alt mode, MP-13 style bot mode and size, and correct shade of purple with a classy finish.
None of the existing ones are up to par IMO.
Fanstoys 1st version looks clunky, Takara is too small and wrong color + some other gripes. and Quakeblast has a worrysome transformation and looks too much like Shockwave on steroids to me.

Once I get the hang of doing video reviews I think the "worrisome" transformation will fade.

Finally braved up to transforming this guy.

It really wasn't that bad. After a couple of passes... I do it walking around now, not even paying attention. Makes me wonder what all the fear and fuss was about.

I am not sure which muzzle end I like more? But it's certainly nice to have options.

I have had my Cloud 9 Quakeblast for about three years... and never transformed it until now!

It feels like a brand new figure, all over again!

Here's a side-by-side comparison with my very old G1 Shockwave.

What an amazing homage!! I love this figure!!

And the ability to collapse part of his torso to shrink him down to a more subservient version of Shockwave...

    20200920_182319_HDR~2.jpg

...or extend his torso for a more imposing version of Shockwave...

    20200920_182904_HDR~2.jpg

I'm not sure if it was an intended feature, but its a pretty cool option!

It is a crime that no one has bought the designs and blueprints of this figure in order to make a reissue.

Three years into owning Quakeblast, my mileage hasn't varied... if it has any variance, maybe it's only gotten better!!

If I had one complaint, it would be that he can't really look down.

    "Intruders shall be terminated."

    20200921_170423_HDR~2.jpg
    "Your primitive weapon is useless."

But other than that, THIS is my definitive Shockwave!!

Now if only I could find some batteries for him.

I personally love mine. I wound up doing some very minor modifications to him. I shortened the gun hand by cutting off the narrowest section, the one that connects to the tip, and then regluing the tip onto the end of the shorter barrel. Then I painted his chest, hand and gun barrel with a lighter purple.
I think it turned out ok, gives a bit more contrast and I like the look of the shorter barrel although the paint does tend to rub off the ball joints on the hand. Be kind though, I'm /very/ new to customizing figures. This was pretty much my first real effort. The flash really seems to bring out the imperfections in the paint coat. In normal light, looks fine though.

Cool. I personally like the translucent parts due to my affinity for the G1 toy. I also swapped the metal parts from the black version to my purple version- chromed instead of satin silver feet and leg/grip side panels...

I didn't realize that transforming him was an issue. I must not have been paying attention. I wanted this guy for a long time, then gave up when Takara came out with their MP Shockwave. And now I wish I had Quakeblast as my Masterpiece Shockwave.

I remember Quakeblast got unfair reviews in the beginning for similar transformation as FansToys. And then lo and behold, Takara comes out with their MP with nearly the same transformation. I am glad people have gotten away from the arguing of transformations being influenced by other transformers. I glad we have gotten past that time period.

It isnt an issue... the gun handle white panels just have a very.... "authoritative" snap to them that takes a little getting used to. Everything else is a cakewalk.

Yup, some transformations you really can't quite change too much if you're keeping the same form and look.

This thing is long gone now isn't it? I think maybe the clear version might still be available?

It wasn't really unfair though. It's basically a straight re-shell of Fanstoys Quakewave's engineering with an essentially identical, not just similar, transformation. The inside out barrel cover/backpack is even straight copied from Quakewave. The official MP transformation is just "similar" though, that's true.

But I don't care... I love my Quakeblast and don't care how it was made- I'm just glad it exists!

A re-shell would imply that some of the underlying parts share a common manufacture.... to the best of my knowledge, the FT and C9 Shockwaves share zero parts commonality

Exact same engineering, but all new parts is how I meant it. They straight copied how Quakewave works was my point. Sorry if it didn't make sense how I worded it.
