This may come across as being bias but who cares lol

Firstly ironhide’s vehicle mode. No words to say- other than it’s sick!

Secondly I adore starscream’s ROTF/DOTM jet mode. The cybertronian tattoos personally adds more affect to it and design overall. Plus it’s a freaking F22 Raptor!

Thirdly optimus’ truck mode in AOE/TLK! Don’t get me wrong I quite like the first trilogy design a lot. But I do find that the more modern design better and undoubtedly more cleaner and slicker. It’s unfortunate his robot mode looks like absolute shit..

My fifth and last spot would go to bees 1974 Camaro, the dirty yet colourful way this vehicle is proportioned is quite amazing. I don’t necessarily care for the later designs of bees car modes in my opinion. But you can’t beat the classic 70’s camaro from the 07 film!

 

His robot form/design is trash but a satellite is the best updated alt-mode Soundwave has had and I still can't believe it was largely confined to only ROTF.

 

2007 had alot of good alt-modes, especially because they actually looked like something you'd see driving on the road at the time, or were still in military service back then. The only real fudge would be a hummer as an emergency rescue vehicle (I could never see those Road Boats being used for that). As the films went on the used more and more concept cars that never ended up being made (Sideswipe), and by the time AOE the Autobots looked more like Hot Wheels than actual cars. The Veyron is the epitome of "Douchebag car", and Optimus' truck mode.... why? Of all the custom rigs I've seen, none were ever that flamboyant.

 

Today I saw a yellow camaro with black stripes on the hood, that was a rare sighting in Costa Rica... It had the Autobot symbol too!

After seeing that beautiful car, now I want a yellow Camaro lol

 

my favourite jet is the f4 phantom II that blitzwing sported

 

My favourite land-based alternate modes would have to be Barricade (all incarnations), Hot Rod, Prime (2007-2011), Hound (AOE), Sideways, Sideswipe, Dino/Mirage, Lockdown, The Dreads, Beserker, Que and the Twins (new bodies).

My favourite flying alternate modes would be Starscream, Blackout, Grindor, and Nitro Zeus.

For sea-based alternate modes? Ehhh man I'm not sure!

VW beetle definitely. Not just because G1 but it just had so much character.
Also liked the Twins Ice Cream truck and Shatter & Dropkick always go well together as cars.
Unfortunately, lot of the alt modes in the Bay movies don't quite come across to me as characters - more like cars just plopped there (a good example is Jazz in the first film when Bumblebees legs are blown of and the Jazz car doesn't react at all).

Edit: They do, of couse, all look very nice.

 

My favorite is easily Megatron from ROTF. Wish it was an Earth tank but I'll take it:

Loving Scourge's truck so far, nightbird and mirage look slick as hell too

 

As a toy, I like Ironhide's GMC style - it's just a shame that the toy seems to be systematically flawed (if that's the case). I also really love Barricade's police slogan - to punish and enslave.

 

All the sports car altmodes are sexy. But Soundwave as a satellite is a brilliant modern update for the character
