    I dunno. I don't have a Switch, so while I know about the issue, I never really looked into how Nintendo responded.

    Though it took the threat of a class action lawsuit, so I don't know if a blue inner mouth on Unicron could drum up that same level of support from consumers.

    And that's exactly what I meant. An additional production run like this wouldn't come down to just one person. The decision will be made after a meeting between the brand manager/project lead, the bean counters, maybe the designer/engineer, someone on distribution/logistics, and maybe the factory manager all the way in China/Vietnam as well. They'll need to determine if and how anything should be done, how best to approach the situation, how to make the replacement as theoretically pain-free for the consumer as possible, etc, etc. It's not a decision that can be made at the drop of the hat, not without first examining various factors in detail first.

    In the meantime, you can't have anybody giving off-the-cuff remarks that potentially lead to more consumer frustration and confusion, as per Nintendo's contradictory statements as above.

    For all we know, the most ideal course of action is just for Hasbro to go and produce/mail out a sticker sheet for everybody. Theoretically, they could get that done before the Hasbro Pulse orders go out, maybe even being able to slip that into the shipping boxes and package it with the orders.

    Ha! Got an email back asking me if I was happy with their “customer service”. Lol! That would be a no!

    I understand the issues they were dealing with on the maw, but the canned response was bad enough and the second was even worse.

    It's not Customer Service's job to be making production decisions.

    Maybe it's a bit rough to insinuate you went that far. But Customer Service reps aren't able to provide high-level responses like what you're asking of them. Telling them they did a terrible job for something that isn't even their job is just demeaning.

    I'm not sure who Willis is trying to convince with his "conclusion: canonical blue maw" tweet, or what his point is.

    Okay, so he found an instance, once, when Unicron was depicted with a blue maw.

    I can do that too. Beast Wars season 1, episode 21 "Possession."

    Unicron's maw is a dark colour. Probably blue.

    Relevance? None, really.

    The point is not whether Unicron has always been depicted with a yellow maw in all fiction, nor is it that the blue plastic would be impossible to customise with paint or decals (it won't be impossible, but results will vary based on skill level.)

    The point is that Hasbro presented a yellow mawed 3D printed model and, when directly asked, said that the production model would look like that.

    When updates were given, depicting a molded plastic model, Hasbro claimed that they were still working on the final colours.

    And the point is that, even after the lucky few have already recieved a model with a blue maw, Hasbro's promotional materials and Unicron instruction manuals still all depict a model with a yellow maw.


    Speaking only for myself, I probably won't be changing the blue maw to orange. I like the contrast the blue provides and I'm much more annoyed by the unpainted details in robot mode.

    But we shouldn't even be needing to have this discussion. We shouldn't have to alter this very expensive, very limited edition piece to make it match what we thought we were all buying.

    We paid a lot of money to Hasbro, in advance, in good faith that the final product deco was going to match the 3D printed model.
    We expected that the premium price paid would cover the cost of all the deco and all the paint applocations.

    It doesn't. That's disappointing. And that's the point.

    Ditto, the response was a joke. Of course I am not satisfied with their response. They didn't even try to explain why the changes were made last minute.
