Trypticon is far from tiny. He has as much mass as any of the other Titans... he's just hunched over more... but stand him straight up and he's almost as tall as Metroplex.

This is precisely what is needed. The gears are inner workings, so could conceivably be blue, although you don't see them in the Movie so the idea of caps to cover them is obviously better. But this outcome would have been guaranteed to be a hit, with probably zero backlash.

I always thought trypticon was on the short side and bland with grey I had to give him a face lift
I posted this a whe back
    Heavy/Scratch: - Titans return trypticon

Maybe my post will inspire you to get another
I do have a few extra if you change your mind about getting another and reunite with trypticon ;)

Thats pretty good I agree i could live with that and paint the actual chompers silver

That looks perfectly good and I hate that I'm going to have to use stupid stickers to get that.

Not always, for some weird reason Ontario, Canada seems to get stuff even before Asia at times, such as Kingdom Wave 1 most recently.

Godfuckingdammit, that would have been GREAT. It looks absolutely acceptable. I can confirm that there's no friction there to rub the paint off either.

The fact that this figure is literally ONE paint app away from being amazing makes me even more frustrated. I absolutely blame cost-cutting for this - there really is no other legitimate excuse that I can think of except catastrophic factory error, which doesn't seem likely given how "open and transparent" Hasbro has been about all of this.

Way to drop the fucking ball at the last second Hasbro.

I think if you or someone you know goes with acrylic model paint, it would not be destructive to the plastic that it can't be removed with isopropyl later. (unlike enamel paints)

Unless you're constantly shoving galvatron into the mouth ;) , its not a high contact area that is always being grabbed, that you have to worry about paint chipping/scratching.

    Just some thoughts.

So for that blue ring being shown (that's been digitally altered): is that just one flat piece we could swap out? I'm wondering if I could cut out a piece of styrene and swap it out with the blue ring. Then I could always swap the original piece back in if need be.

Unfortunately no. If you look at the picture from @Monari of the back, its all that blue square. It needs paint.

Getting an orange replacement square piece and painting the outer blue would not be good from what I can see because you would have to color match a square outline that would be really visible in planet mode. It makes more sense visually and for simplicity to simply add an orange color to the inner blue circle.

Has this not been discussed here yet?

    https://twitter.com/damnyouwillis/status/1359684532786647043

The inner maw is on the "planet crust" sprue. You DEFINITELY want the crust to all be the same color, so casting that entire huge piece in yellow when only a little of it is *supposed to be yellow* and then painting an enormous amount of it blue seems like begging for trouble in terms of risking a bad paint match, and also throwing away a lot of the paint-app budget on stuff that shouldn't need to be painted like the *sides* of every surface.

Paint the inner maw yellow? The interlocking scissor-fang gimmick would probably strip the paint away and people would be just as mad.

There will be a sticker set to fix it, I'm sure (and you'll hate the stickers because after you pay $40 for them they will either leave tiiiiiny slivers of blue visible or they'll be pulped by the scissor-fangs).

It looks like the teeth in that area do not actually rub there. Its more of a surface application.

Stickers look like they might be an option since that area does not look overly complex, but it is somewhat rounded and there are sections really low past the teeth that you need to consider with the sticker material. It can only flex so much.

The only thing I personally don't like about the stickers is that they take away from the depth of features like the greebling.

I didn't realize this general discussion was that wide spread. (I need to get out more. hah).

Yes same general ideas, it look like.

A quick paint app is technically the most "complete" fix, but who will be the first to do it?...

ah. now this makes far more sense now as to why the change.

All the sudden the anger and rage I never had to begin with has left me and I suddenly feel peace and tranquility.

It has been discussed. Also discussed: painting the maw like the mock-up by @mechman22 here, which according to @Monari -- who has Unicron in hand -- would not run into any paint rub problems.

I'm not painting my Unicron. If someone offers a custom-painted piece that I could swap out I would consider that.
