In shops Mar 31, 2021: TMNT ULTIMATES WAVE 1 BAXTER STOCKMAN AF VERSION 2 (JUL209127) TMNT ULTIMATES WAVE 1 FOOT SOLDIER AF VERSION 2 (JUL209128) TMNT ULTIMATES WAVE 1 RAPHAEL AF VERSION 2 (JUL209129) TMNT ULTIMATES WAVE 1 SPLINTER AF VERSION 2 (JUL209130)
Had a thought last night. Metalhead never should have been named "Metalhead." They could have kept the Renaissance artist thing going and named the robotic Turtle... "Botticelli." Seems like a real missed opportunity.
Then writing it that way was their first mistake! (Just kidding... that makes in-universe sense, but I still think Botticelli would have been a better name. )
With me being new to collecting the cartoon line, my choices are basically hope for reprints (outside of disguise turtles is this possible?) or resorting to eBay for stuff I have missed. Question for you guys is what amount over retail do you (begrudgingly) consider acceptable? Should I be shooting for say no more than a 50% markup or just keep holding out hope. Haha. I know this answer could vary wildly depending on the pack/rarity but didn’t know what people thought since this line appears very hard to obtain in stores historically anyhow.
How much is your time worth? How much would you pay not to have to wait for a refresh, not to hunt at Target, not to keep refreshing Target.com, not to stress. Also, how bad would you feel if the figures you paid a late tax on are made available again in the future? What if they were improved and you had to re-buy them to stay current? Personally, I would advise slowing your roll and not try to play catch-up. The NECA figures are good -- but not that good.
i agree with @SmokePants don't waste your money on the late tax espc for the basic 12, that is the 4 Turtles, Splinter, April, Casey, Shredder, Krang, Bebop & Rocksteady, and Foot Soldiers. All of them will come around again at some point bcuz they're the basis of the most popular characters, yes Casey is a stretch not being 80s toon prevalent but he's grown into a full on staple of the media. Now Metalhead, Leatherhead, Slash, Baxter, Vernon, Ratking, Rocks, and Triceratons are less likely to see the light of day again just on being 2ndary characters in the media though some prove popular with collectors and may see again if we complain enough. Some of the upcoming figures are not going to be seen again like the Punk Frogs, Ace and the like. Honestly you haven't missed much that i'd say warrant not waiting for again and it also depends on what type of collection you want.
I pay 0% over retail, personally. Buying from scalpers only encourages their behavior. All of this stuff is going to get reissued at some point...it’s just a question of when. If you have patience, you’ll get them all at retail (or retail plus shipping if you get something from a board member here). That being said, make sure your wants are accurately depicted on the tmnt search sheet we maintain (link in my sig). We help each other out!
Thanks guys. The cost of these even at eBay prices is generally less than the super7 line so I think that is what was making me wonder if an inflated price might be worth it. Comparing the two lines from a quality to price ratio probably isn’t fair though! I’ll try to stick to the slow game for eventual re-releases but I am sure eBay will tempt me!
i mean if its worth it to you and it happens no big deal, we advise against it but we haven't condone a single community member for resulting to it, heck i got KO Mirage Turtles off eBay and people still thought they were cool
Yeah, nobody is going to judge you here if you cave in. For practical purposes, I’ll add that these figures aren’t worth $50 each. Seriously. They look neat, but they just aren’t worth that from a build quality perspective.
I just got my Ultimates Bebop today and is it just me or is getting the shield in hand really difficult? Even heating up the hand it was troublesome.
I guess you kinda have to be good with $50 for the Super 7 stuff, lol. I don’t have any of the Super 7 TMNT stuff yet, but I am under the impression that the build quality is better than NECA. And, their figures are generally larger, I believe. I have a Mutagen Man on order...hoping he’s worth the price paid.
It's something that hasn't been brought up much, if at all, but yes. The weapons haven't been scaled correctly to some of the figures. Bebop's shield, drill, and possibly his knife are too small. The Foot Soldier's jaws-of-life thingy, flail, and rifle are too small, and Baxter's fly swatter thing has an attachment that is supposed to fit over his arm, but it can only fit over his gun. This seems to be a byproduct of the weapon racks and trying to fit things into a small space that they have allocated on a tool. I wish they'd fix it. If Rocksteady's rifle is puny, I'll be upset. From a figure utility standpoint, no. But they will very likely appreciate in value, so you can enjoy them for a while and then sell them for a profit. Just don't throw out the packaging. And if you fall in love with them and don't want to sell, then they were worth the investment.
Yeah, the shield is near impossible to get in his hands. The drill and knife were also pretty damned difficult to get in his hands. First time I had that issue with one of S7's figures. It's my first complaint personally with this line. I think they're worth it. They're big and sturdy with good articulation and plenty of accessories. I'm not going completionist on the line but I'm getting all my favorite characters from the toyline. Also, great news that they're going to do characters from other media who didn't have toys in the original line.
IMHO.....7734 no, hence my complete cherry pick of their line and so far 4 waves revealed and 2 have been must buys for me, the quality is there but the articulation is kinda basic for a $50 and the size leaves them out of all my shelves yeah Bebop didn't sell me on these hopefully metalhead is better
