Depends on the accessories to me. Animated Hot Rod didn't look as good holding his bow with his relaxed hands. I wish they'd bring in swappable hands from their other lines personally

 

Unicron is one of those characters that doesn't even fit in my TF head canon, so I really shouldn't have an opinion, but I agree with you. I think the toy looks cheap when it's all orange. The blue makes it look more complex. But, go trying to explain that to the toon accuracists.

 

It's a great way to break the orange up. I get that it ain't accurate and being mildly upset over it, but the reactions people have had are.. yikes. Acting like someone stabbed your brother or something over some internal mechanisms and.. a single half of the teeth

 

Revenge of the toon accuracy brigade. I'm not invested in the toy, but I'm getting a kick out of some of the asinine arguments people are making.

 

The toy looks a bit more like the Pirates of the Caribbean Kraken to me because of the blue maw.

 

Hasbro really missed the boat when it made all the Sweeps the same color.

 

The Arcee/Elita-1 mold is actually really good. Who gives a shit about partsforming or shellforming when the end result is still good in both modes?

Unicron's planet mode has a blue ring in the mouth when it was orange in the promo shots.

What I like about that is that the "blue" really highlights the "teeth". Its a cool play feature, but when the whole thing is ... yellow? orange? ... I think they get lost. Not saying (out loud) anyone is wrong for wanting it to be screen accurate, but I just like the aesthetics better.

My gripes on Haslab Unicron

 

It would have been much more interesting, but then half of the fans would be bitching about it not being cartoon-accurate. As common as animation coloring errors were in G1, I don't recall seeing any screen captures of mis-colored Sweeps.

Personally, I tend to find chrome tacky. Especially when it’s hap-hazardously placed. The Japanese Classics/Generations like looked horrible with all that random chrome. (Chromed tailights on Ironhide?)

 

The cell shaded Siege Optimus and Megatron are absolutely hideous.

 

I feel like these are either a "love it" or "hate it" thing for sure. This may not be as unpopular of an opinion as you think.

 

I've only seen love for them. But, I may be missing something.
