It's roughly voyager-sized; there's a pic a few posts up with it standing next to MP-28, so you can see it's not quite that tall. It tends to look better with the Thrilling 30/Combiner Wars-era Hasbro figures if you don't have a specifically IDW-themed collection.

I'm using mine in my story as an "advanced" Hot Rod that now goes by the name of just "Flame".

So this is how he scales with WFC and such figures:

He's perfectly sized to MMC Megatron and looks great with CW Magnus.

Well, not exactly. He's about MP carbots sized. A little bit higher than MP Sideswipe and a little bit lower than MP Hot Rod.

IMO Hot Flame falls into the CHUG/MP hybrid category. He can work with both scales. He comes up to about Ultra Maxmas’ chest, which is reasonably accurate to the comics; so he’s definitely MP scale too

I agree. I display him with my MP bots (the lovely IDW corner of the collection). Strictly speaking he and Chromedome should be bigger, but both are bigger than some of the MP carrots and do just fine there. Just depends how determined you are to have a large Rodimus.

Maybe somebody did any improvements of his wrists to make him able to hold weapon well? I've nailpoloshed grips and it works out well enough, but maybe there are other hints?

Got this figure in today. Awesome toy. I already had MMC's Calidus, but SXS Hot Flame is a m7ch cleaner figure in bot mode. Clearly the superior toy in my opinion.

It appears that the arms and chest are springloaded or something for transformation, but when pegged together very securely. Articulation is also fantastic. But the weapon holding stuff is meh. Swords and saw are good, gun is wortheless. Won't hold at all.
But hey, in the comic that comes with the instructions he looses the gun, so perhaps that's what SXS was going for. :D :D

Floor polish or nail polish the grip and that will solve the problem, when the grip gets thickened. I did mine and now it's perfect. The swords and saw also.

Not spring-loaded at all. If I remember correctly, some of the mushroom pegs are a bit squared-off inside, which is probably where you're getting the impression that there are springs.

They were meant to release new hands for people who bought the original version. One of the repaints got the new hands too (the Lost Light one, if I remember correctly). But since then, it's basically been radio silence for SXS, so I just look over at my Rodimus to find his weapons on the floor sometimes...

For what it's worth, I filled mine with epoxy putty. It makes it heavier but, more importantly, you can fix a lot of the looseness. Some of the ankle area, particularly around the wheels, can be a pain in the butt and get damaged easily, especially long-term. Still a good figure but I'm not sure he's as much of a knock-out as I originally thought.

It's a shame SXS haven't done anything else. Their Gears and Swerve seemed pretty mediocre but I still need to get their Blurr at some point because it's meant to be decent, and they teased Nautica but never continued. Such a shame that so many third-party companies have just closed up shop and we're left with less competition and fewer options...
