I'm very keen on using repurposing as a way to have a toy of a comic-only character. I didn't know until very recently that there was, a little while ago, a version of Fall of Cybertron Ruination that came out that had some wild colour schemes and Cybertronian alt modes that were pretty off-base for the actual characters (Impactor, Whirl, Topspin, Twin Twist and Roadbuster). For me this makes them perfect for repurposing - and I've found pretty good matches for four of the five (aptly, a couple of them are Wreckers themselves). In order of "accuracy", best to worst:

Twin Twist as Crest - same colours (the blue is absolutely spot on;, same type of face (visorless, bucket-style, grey face); and has a nice big orange bit on the chest. Also turns into a seafaring craft, as Crest himself does (hence the name, from "cresting" waves). I'm really pleased with this one.

Topspin as Valve - a mostly plain white jet, with a blue visor. Again the head is pretty much bang on! Obviously this Topspin has a few more hints of colour than the drawing, but the styling of the wings is pretty similar and the constant down-pointing of the shapes that form the chest and waist is well reflected between the toy and the art.

Impactor as Jack-Knife - Ok so the head isn't quite as good a match (Impactor's helmet is purple while Jack-Knife's is orange) but the faces are very similar. Obviously they're both orange trucks (well, we can assume Jack-Knife was a truck, since surely his name is a reference to trucks that jack-knife). But there are also the thick, raised metal strips on the chest on both.

Roadbuster as Triton - Admittedly this is a bit more of a stretch, since Triton clearly should have an aquatic craft alt mode, and there is zero correlation between the heads. But the colour map is almost perfectly spot on (if only he had a green waist); they both have long, sloping, curved chests; the pipes running either side of the torso are especially well-matched; and the other thing that it massively has going for it is that enormous Autobot symbol right in the middle of his chest.

Whirl as... - Random empurata victim? - Ok, so the last one was pretty decent except for the head - here we've got the exact reverse; the only real match is the head design. The colour map is completely different - and we don't even know the name of this guy (unless I'm very much mistaken) - so it's impossible to know what he transforms into. So perhaps this would be a good match on that front? Impossible to know.

BONUS - MMC Ultio (Senator Ratbat) as Macabre - Not sure how ok it is to post 3rd party toys here but, head aside, this works pretty well. Clearly the head could never be described as "bang on" but they do at least share yellow eyes and a grey face. The shade of purple isn't a spot-on match but it's not a billion miles away. Macabre has red highlights that Ultio lacks (he instead has gold accents) and Macabre generally is properly purple-and-grey, whereas Ultio is just purple with a bit of black. But here's where it really works out - Macabre's alt mode has never been pictured but it's described as a "bat-winged air current glider", and, well, just look at Ultio...

 

any ideas for these lads? (Excluding SG)

Swerve kinda looks like a truck version of Knockout, although I have no clue why he'd be a truck.  

 

I really like your suggestion, I've been using rotf swerve, but the truck seems better, especially being a medic.

Was not aware these existed but how about Gobots Gong or Tic-Toc. Former is bad and the latter is good if that matters any.

Here's a thought, could the FOC Whirl head be transplanted onto the WFC Bumblebee/Cliffjumper mode to make Damus/Glitch? Slightly bending the idea of repurposing with light customization here. Maybe the mold can even work as a pre-empurata Glitch.

The club actually did use the Meantime body for Gong in club GoBots stories. So that's an official repurpose.

 

They did? Well shoot that's news to me.....especially since I just learned they existed yesterday.

I take it you never read the club stories Echoes and Fragments or Opportunity Knocks? Those were both GoBot stories where Gong appeared as a key character.

In Echoes and Fragments Gong teamed up with RiD Sideways to mess up the events of The Transformers: The Movie.

In Opportunity Knocks Gong helped Cy-Kill and the new Renegade army escape Axion Nexus and return to his native universe.

 

I'd buy a Gen Selects slight remold of that for a Predacon Primal.
