It's a shame that they only put effort into the Kong half of this line. With this Kong, they've proven that they can make great figures at a low price-point.

Say what you about Playmates, but I've seen reviews of these new Godzilla vs Kong figures and I think they look decent.

I actually ordered Godzilla with the heat ray and Kong with the axe yesterday through Walmart (only $10 a piece) and a Netflix Sideswipe to get the $35+ free shipping. Well, Walmart e-mailed me this morning telling me they had "great news" and the Playmates Godzilla vs Kong figures were available at a local store and coming today... with no tracking number, just word of mouth saying they would e-mail after they got here. Well, I checked my e-mail a mere 12 minutes after it said they got here (with a photo of them in regular Walmart store bags) next to my apartment building's BACK door (why not choose the front where you can buzz my buzzer and is right by the main street?!) and I went down to get them and they were stolen. Thankfully, when I called the general Walmart support number, it was pretty easy to get to an agent who helped me. I have replacements coming Thursday or Friday at no extra cost or hassle, though hopefully through a shipping service and not a local store again.

The best I can hope for regarding my missing figures is some kid in my building is enjoying them and having an epic made up battle. You're probably wondering why I didn't knock on my neighbors' doors and ask around. Well, there's 17 other apartments and some of the people who live here are not the friendliest, unfortunately.

These look pretty decent. Covered up screw holes with a fair amount of detail and articulation. The light up dorsal fins and roar on Godzilla is quite nice. It’s heavily rumored they’re $40 a piece though, which seems a bit pricey.

What do you mean about the screwholes? On the other 11" Kongs and Godzillas, they were just on Kong's back and the side of Godzilla facing inward, and neither one is removed in that video. EDIT: Whoops, missed it!

I’m liking the variety in this toyline. Finally a Godzilla that doesn’t have limp arms and static head posture. Also, a Kong with a mostly closed mouth.

Man... Godzilla’s tail is far too short. If they didn’t include the projectiles and instead a properly length tail, this would be much better. The light up dorsal plates are enough to sale this guy.

But out of all the mass market toys so far, these are by far the two best Godzilla and Kongs to date.

Probably one of the few things I like about the Playmates figures over the NECA ones was the blue translucent plastic they used on Godzilla's spines.

I do like Mega Godzilla's light-up effect, but I wish it extended all the way down his tail and lit up his mouth. Also, I find the sight of the battery compartment on his chest a bit distracting (I know I'm being a bit realistic, but there you go).

I guess I'll probably pick up the smaller Heat Ray Godzilla (not a big fan of the battle damage, though), but it'll probably be the only figure I'll get from this line. Kong and Warbat look a bit interesting, but I'll always be disappointed after being spoiled by NECA.

Is playmates planning on making the older version of Godzilla and the other monsters? I liked the 6 inch Kong and Godzilla and recently purchased them. Oh and is the 6 inch King Kong with the jet out?

Playmates already did before the GvK line started. There's info pointing to more releases in the future but no sight of them, perhaps due to the movie delay impacting the merch.

I appreciate JJ not being in a static pose and it looks decent... we'll see with the final product.

Ewwww. Definitely NOT buying either of those. They look like a step down from the already shallow detail Playmates has been using for most of their Godzilla toys.

Even with the light and sound gimmicks, I'm still disappointed in these toys. The details look rushed and are sloppy at best. It's a shame that the 10" Trendmasters toys from over 20 years ago blows these toys out of the water. I wish someone would recreate that line and give us something worth buying for the price.

McFarlane's King Kong from 15+ years ago puts this Kong to shame and it scales perfectly with the 10" Trendmasters line. I know because I have both and I won't be replacing them with this trash.

These are like the fake toys you see in the movie that were really shittily thrown together by the prop department.

Supposedly, Jet Jaguar and Burning Godzilla are spring releases, and more is coming in the fall.
