Attention: HasLab Unicron team

To whom it may concern,

Hello, my name is [Shattered Trousers], I purchased two Unicrons through my local EB Games store, my local agent in conjunction with Hasbro Australia.

Following the development of Unicron has been an exciting distraction in an unprecedented difficult year, and for the most part what HasLab are expected to deliver looks wonderful.
The design team have created a toy that is worthy of the significance of the Unicron character, loaded with wonderful detail.

However, it has come to my attention that the final product has received several unannounced deco changes that are both detrimental to the quality of the product and conflicting with the advertised model and the photographs in the instruction manual.

The changing of the colour of the planet mode maw (from yellow-orange to blue-grey), as well as the omitting of paint applications to the robot mode lower jaw teeth, the rear half of the upper-torso/collar area and the palms of the robot hands might seem like minor details among many, but they are very noticeable.

I don't know what could possibly be done to correct these oversights, as the product is already in transit to backers around the world, but I feel strongly enough about it to express my surprise that the "crown jewel" of the 'Transformers War for Cybertron Trilogy' should receive these deco changes that make the final product appear unfinished.

I in no way regret backing HasLab Unicron. The imposing Transformer will be a proud centrepiece of my collection.
My confidence in the HasLab program, on the other hand, has been shaken. Should any future HasLab projects appeal to me I will be influenced by the question of whether the project will arrive as promoted or whether it too will be subject to unannounced changes.

Please take my concerns under advisement and, should a solution be implemented, I eagerly anticipate further information.

It's not even tal enough for planet mode

So alot of people are saying that "colours may vary" and "final product may vary" so why are you upset...

Well to put it bluntly:

So they said it would be movie accurate (orange maw) and the model in the haslab pics was the "final product". I actually think there were some updates or SDCC videos that said similar, but basically the deco shown was basically what to expect. So sure, they changed yellow to orange and we were happy about that, but the list of missed paint is so far :

• Maw
• Teeth
• silver paint not carried through to back half (shoulders)
• Hands

So the normal expectation is yes, changing yellow to orange covered by "colours may vary".... but all the yellow changed to orange.

And maybe the green of the eyes isn't quite what was expected.... but thats a slight change.

But the Maw.... at NO STAGE in the movie is it blue... or dark... or anything other than yellow/orange/whatever surrounding colour light reflected and changed the appearance.

The one time it may have looked different, was in the process of eating a moonbase! And that is NOT what this is showing

So yes, some advisement of the change should have been given, but more importantly, matching the intended colour should have been a priority

We are sorry you aren't happy with the figure. The figure shown in the media was a prototype and was too expensive to make.

We aren't planning on doing it anything about it.

I have sent in my letter to Hasbro about my dismay with the color application errors on Unicron. Hopefully if enough of us complain, something might be done. I strongly encourage you all to send Hasbro your 2 cents, especially since you all sent them alot more than that for this thing already.

Would you please take measurements of the Box? Length x Width x Height. I would like to know the size so I may determine whether I need to change shipping locations for this monster. Not sure it will fit in me vehicle. Thanks you in advance!!!

 

At the end of the day, I’m more than pleased with my purchase and the presence that Unicron will bring to my collection. Still, the maw color does rankle a bit and I’m happy to contribute whatever I can to any efforts to express this minor dissatisfaction to Hasbro.

I ask that you take my concerns under advisement and place my name and details on whatever future list you have of crowdfunding backers requesting replacement parts in the appropriate, advertised colors.

Here's my countdown that I'll be saying to myself. X = the number of days until Unicron shows up on my doorstep.

Today is X - 1 day until Unicron arrives.

 

I mean it's pretty big. But I feel like it could have been bigger. Like an even 3 feet.

 

Oooof, the miscolored maw and unpainted teeth are quite unfortunate.

TT actually has terrific customer service. They offer a full year of warranty from the date of purchase. You send in the broken part/figure (they pay for shipping) and they provide you with a replacement, no questions asked.
The thing is, they are only able to offer the service within Japan, as that is that is the only market they can directly sell in, as per their agreement with Hasbro.
TT is not a global company like Hasbro, so outside of Japan you're at the mercy of your supplier.
