So this Buyker Lab guy, how did he get it 2 months before it's due to ship out? It's coming in late March, and it's currently early February.
The only way he could get it early, as far as I can see, is if somebody stole a box from the factory. He's not a notable youtuber, he's only got 500 subscribers, so I don't see Hasbro giving him a review copy.

Normally I don't care if people steal from the factory, but I'm under the impression Unicron was made to order and there's not gonna be any for a general retail release. So that means somebody's order, maybe even someone on this very forum, is gonna go unfulfilled.

That seems........... bad.

 

I agree here. We got a small amount of "extras" to drive this funding. The digital comic was cool, but printed would have been better. Alternate face options were cool. Mini shuttle, ok (seemingly no included way to display it attached to Unicron in planet mode). 2 slugs (teeny-tiny-itty-bitty blobs of plastic), ok. No Scourge? No sweeps? No Dino's (or just Grimlock)?

The sail barge had a full figure as an extra, which now sells for several hundreds. Sentinel comes with 2 figures, damage options, and multiple heads. Razorcrest comes with 3 exclusive figures, 4 dudes-in-carbonite, an escape pod, and a clear stand as bonus items. I'm a fan of this Unicron and I'm happy I got it. Simply seems to me the other releases got better unlock rewards.

 

He got his from Robot Kingdom which shipped their orders out basically right as they got them.
The guy lives in Asia and most likely got his early due to everyone else being countries far away from the factory where it was assembled.

 

How does it seem bad? Judging by the number of premieres that hit today, many HK at least got theirs first. Hasbro ships to North America via, literal, slow boat. That is a month or two to go from Asia to the docks of the US then shipped to the distribution centers. Don't forget, this is a global release. Japan and China will no doubt get theirs before we in North America, which will likely be faster than those in Europe.

 

What I like...
- The orange is actually orange and not this weird yellow
- Same goes for the grey (though under some lighting it still looks more blue-ish than green-ish)
- I did not know about the maw gimmick till now (I always kinda looked into the updates, did not want to spoil myself to much)
- The new shuttle looks very nice as does the Mini Hot Rod

What I do not like...
- No color on the lower jaw (fixable, but you should not have to fix this at this price)
- The final version of the hands is unacceptable with regards to the coloration
- As for the feet, I was expecting so see the same silver color like on the rest of the body. Since they are constructed out of the same kind of plastic I am sure this will not bother me as much -(as it does on the hands) once my Unicron arrives
- That maw - the moment I saw this I was shocked and angry about this big disappointment. In planet mode this is where it's at! This is the highlight! And they did not do it justice. Having the gears in grey wouldn't have bothered me.
- That Mini Galvatron still looks dumb

Anyway... knowing myself, all of this will not bother me (as much) when I wake up next morning.

And all of this will not bother me at all once they (I ordered two) arrive at my door and I unpack one of them.

I hated Siege Starscream when they announced it. Once I had him in hand and handled and played with him... Well, in the end I go all Siege Seekers. Sure, you cannot compare a regular Voyager class to a product like this. But I am sure everyone has a story like this - when you disliked a toy, that got it in hand and you where blown away by it.

 

Actually, we might beat the States here. At least in the UK...

Kapow are the official crowdfunding affiliate and have posted on Facebook that they've been told their stock is arriving this month

 

Also I strongly suspect there was a review embargo date of some kind too given that we got four videos on the same day around the same time.

I’m in a weird spot when it comes to this. I find my self intrigued by it, like I watched bits of the production process and am interested to see how it transforms and yet it’s not something I actually want. I was happy for those who were happy it was announced but I knew it wouldn’t be my unicron. For me it fails in unicron mode. I don’t like the head at all, and there is too much kibble placed on the legs. Zeta isn’t 100 percent a winner either. People have griped about it’s alt mode and the size isn’t in line with what I want. It’s clear to me that there’s a better unicron out there, it just hasn’t been made yet!

 

Anyone talking about the extra square slots for figures (prime) and a circle on the left for a ship holder in the base?

 

For $600 the backpack and leg backpacks are completely unacceptable. Look at Zeta's Unicron and tell me the engineering isn't possible, because it is, and this isn't even an instance where you can say "well it's mass produced" because this was a crowdfunded effort for a small batch compared to how many figures they usually produce in large scale production. This thing looks so cheap and more like a turtle than anything, and all it really has going for it is sheer size factor. The second mine comes in it's going on eBay, I am massively disappointed.

 

Just looks like some gave it a shot at transforming it, got frustrated and said fuck it I’m done with this shit

couple thoughts i has while watching the video reviews/previews:

- i really wonder how useful the moving eye gimmick is. doesn’t seem like you can even make out which direction they’re in once the face is on, and without led lights, this seems like a useless gimmick unless you remove the face. i’d rather have removed that gimmick and used the budget towards finishing off the paint job

- not sure if anyone brought this up, but i really dislike how flag the wings are in the sense that they just splay out to the side, but are all dimiensionally on the same plane. studio cell, as a comparison, splay out from the front and back, rather than straight out to the sides, which is more cohesive to me in 3 dimensions

yea, i know i’ve been posting a lot the past couple days for someone that chose not to order this guy, so i’m not bashing him or promoting studio cell by any means. just excited as many of you are of a new release, especially at this scale, so i’m just in it for the ride.

 

I really feel like that part around the mouth was just injected with the wrong color plastic. It was never supposed to be painted.

 

I wish I had a good comeback, but I can’t see past all the egg on my face

dammit still quoting the wrong person. Arrgh

 

Any guesses on what the next HasLab Transformer item will be? I hope they do some Ultimate Citybots
