I've been looking into getting MP-21 Bee to go with my Classics and Generations figures because of its size and simple transformation I feel would fit well with them, and loving the Beetle car, but I dunno if there'd be a noticeable difference in terms of feel/appearance. Would it look out of place, and also would I be able to swap it's head for Classics Bee? Just a preference but I prefer that head sculpt better. Thanks!

That figure would be ok imo. But why not just order the Walmart Netflix Bumblebee? That one is also a beetle, and more generations scaled/styled. What kind of classics/generations figures do you have? Pre-siege, both? I can take photo comparisons of that figure for you to see.

I don't think that the headswap idea would be easily doable. Classics figures usually have balljoint necks, and MPs do not. Plus the yellow color probably wouldn't match.

I did, decided to give it to a friend though. It was alright but the MP looked like a better version of it, if that makes sense. I have some from Classics, CW, POTP and the current Siege and ER stuff. You could try those. Also, what does the joint for his head have?

I use MP-21 in my Generations display and he looks great. Yeah, he's taller than the other minibots, but that's not that big of a deal to me. I like that he 1. doesn't partsform and 2. is not the same mold as Cliffjumper. Swapping heads probably wouldn't work though. Classics Bee has a pretty big head, plus I'm not sure if any version of it match the yellow of MP-21 well enough.

Most of the other cars are going to be too big if you're using something like ER Prime as your Optimus.

Star Saber kiiiiinda works. He's supposed to be really big, though I'd prefer a real Generations Star Saber be comparable to something like TR Overlord or Sixshot height-wise.

Alright, I'll look into it. He looks great with em! Actually it fits well next to Classics Bee too. If I get him I'm gonna do what I do with Classics and ER Prime; interchanging which one I have in robot and vehicle mode. Doin that with ER and Classics Starscream too. Is it just me or does it feel right that Thundercracker and Skywarp would be voyager but Starscream is the shortest being deluxe scale? I dunno I just like the idea of him being shorter than them and that working into his character a bit lol.

I unscrewed mp bee's head to reveal the neck. I tried to remove both of the bee heads, but no luck, didn't want to use too much force.

Ahhh okay. Ah well, maybe his MP head'll grow on me. I asked cuz I always thought it looked sorta, stretched upwards.

Personally I don’t think MPs look good with CHUG figures. The aesthetics look off and of course, sizing. I have about a dozen MPs and I keep them all on a separate shelf from my CHUG figures. I actually ended up with 2 MP-21 when I bought one and later was given a free opened one as a gift. I had MP-21 as my stand-in CHUG Bumblebee for a while before replacing it with a Legends figure. I’m now using Netflix Bumblebee as my definite CHUG Bumblebee.

I'm a weirdo, and actually like the exo suit spike that comes with mp21. Yeah, his arms pop off if you try to transform it. But it looks the part.

Mp Grimlock is great in dino mode, when displayed in a 1986 movie chug display. (Since he is way to small to match in a masterpiece setup) Although now there is that studio series grimlock.

Yup, those two are the only two MPs I have mixed in the Generations shelf.

edit: I imagine any of the MP cassettes would look and size nicely with Gen stuff too.

    MP Grimlock. Bumblebee.

I'd argue that Megatron, Shockwave, Soundwave, and Optimus also work, if you're ok with the fact that for a while, the generations line has had Leader Sized Primes and Megatrons (Tank Megatron. Titans Return Prime, Titans Return Soundwave)

The autobot cars would work ok with early Generations, where the figures are bigger, unlike current lines where deluxes are downsized. The mp carbots are bigger, but not crazy.

I used to collect Generations. I had MP Tracks and Soundwave (generations was disappointing for both). Then I got MP Prime and Megs to substitute for the leaders. And it kept going that way until I decided to just switch entirely to MP.

I have Rumble, Frenzy and Ratbat in my CHUG displays.

Maybe MP-10 and Ultra Magnus in truck modes? Anyone tried it?

The cassettes are the same size as the originals, so should be compatible with standard size figures. Well, unless you want ones that fit in the new CHUG Soundwaves, anyway.

Grimlock is a perfect fit for CHUG - detailed, a great update of the G1 toy, and towers over most others.

Bumblebee v1 is a bit big for proper robot size, but IIRC the Beetle is bigger than how Bee was traditionally depicted, so the car mode might not look too out of place.

Most other MP figures would simply be too big to fit in a CHUG collection.

I think Shockwave, Megatron, Soundwave, the cassettes, Grimlock, Star Sabre, Inferno, Grapple and the Seekers all work with the modern Chugs if like me, you're into vehicle scale.

If you're crazy about robot scale like I am, then I'd go with MP Grimlock, Star Saber, and maybe the cassettes (Exo-Suit would probably work too, but I'm not sure of the scale) but if you just want some good figures, then I'd totally say to use MP-21, and even possibly MP-10 (Although MP-10V is perfect for scale, so if you want that, it works too).

    Yes and vice versa.

MP-24 Star Saber was Takara's 30th Anniversary figure. It was deep-into the post-MP-10 scale and cartoon asthetic, but the designers had a different goal: to produce the ultimate Star Saber that combined both animation and toy elements. What you get is a figure that isn't exactly a fit for MP as it was, or Generations. A legit MP-scale Star Saber would be big... about the size of Titans Return Fortress Maximus, because Star Saber is supposed to be the size and bulk of a combiner. This describes how MP-24 fits in with CHUG. It's the size of a CHUG combiner (especially with 3P addons). Just to drive home the point, there was a bunch of promotional material with it and Legends God Ginrai. Takara has done anything approaching Star Saber in another form before or since, because if you want a CHUG Star Saber, MP-24 works. That's more or less their stance.

The same thing applies in reverse with Devastator. CW / UW Devastator was designed from the outset to kill two birds with one stone. For the general CW release, it was meant to be the Titan for US market for Combiner Wars. For Unite Warriors, it was designed intentionally (according to the interviews) to be "MP-Adjacent". The Voyager-scale Constructicons were part of it, but in combined mode, it's more or less the size of what MP Devastator would be, and goes with the rest of the 1984 MP Decepticons. At the time, Takara had no intention of doing any MP Combiners, so UW Devastator was it for people who wanted one.

It predates the rescale and redirection of the line, but MP-08 Grimlock is in scale with CHUG (though more so pre-WFC trilogy CHUG). A lot of people used it as their 1986 Grimlock, since the other Dinobots basically vanished from the show. It was designed during the "ultimate toy" era that combined elements of cartoon and the toy to make the best figure possible that is what we never got growing up. But a legit MP Grimlock, like Star Saber, would be huge. Probably a good 30% larger than MP Ultra Magnus.

MP Soundwave's minions are designed, first and foremost to fit in his chest. But they are all out of scale with the show. Laserbeak, Buzzsaw and Ratbat are only a little bit smaller, but Ravage, Frenzy and Rumble are way smaller. The MMC Ocular Max ones, are a lot closer, though probably a little too big. But that being said, pre-WFC Trilogy, the MP cassettets were ideal for CHUG and all perfectly in scale. I think this is still the case for Ravage in particular. While the WFC spy patrols all go well with the line, Ravage is still trash for it. MP Ravage is just a hard figure to beat for it.

I have MP 21 Bee in with my S1 Autobot display. He works with deluxe cars, but is a bit too big to go alongside the other general release minibots. Which is fine for me since mine are on a different shelf, but if you plan on keeping them together it's something to be aware of.

I did the same thing. MP Grimlock just looked a bit too small with my other MPs so I moved him into the Classics display and he pretty much rocked that shelf towering over most of the other Autobots, especially Optimus Prime which was perfect. I left my Grimlock in robot mode though. There were times I thought about transforming him but he was so entrenched among the other bots, I didn't really want to mess with having to move a bunch to get to him. With SS86 Grimlock coming out though, I will probably move MP Grimlock back to the MP shelf when I can get the new one.
