Does anyone know how accurate brickseek is? It had told me a near by walmart had a few super shredder in stock, amongst other figures I was looking for(g1 reissues) and none were to be found for anything. They had nothing TMNT related OR TF related anywhere. Very frustrating and is one of the big reasons why I don't hunt anymore.

It was pretty accurate last year, but I've noticed that it hasn't been accurate at all around me this year. Not sure what happened, but I've heard that they may have been blocked out of Target/Wal-Mart's inventory systems.

I was curious if by chance they were locked out. The walmart in question was in a sketchy area too so it was surely disappointing it had nothing. I did see some MOTU Origins and a few HISS Tanks but that was it.

Thanks for the link. Usually when the link pops up, how long is the average time when it gives you a instock alert?

You couldn't have said it any better about Playmates! I regretted getting rid of Playmates Bebop (and Rocksteady), but NECAs versions surely made up for it. They were just better to handle.

No such thing, really. It's ranged from hours to days to weeks between the page going up and orders going live. That's part of the "fun": hovering over the Target site and/or app for an unknown day and time with a window that might last as little as 5 minutes. And then there's the issue of the alerts taking too long to go out, so by the time you get the notification, it's already sold out. Happened to me with the Triceraton Soldier/Roadkill Rodney set: I got the alert, but it was about 5-6 minutes after it went live, and it only lasted about 2-3 minutes... Oops. So, yeah, no guarantees, but that's how it's been for the majority of this line. NECA said orders should go live this week, but weren't any more specific than that, and they've been wrong about this before, so again, it's anyone's guess at this point. Just gotta keep your eyes on the site/app and the forums as much as you can, and hope for the best.

    Hi all,

Just looking at getting a couple of TMNT figures, thinking of going with NECA cartoon line as it’s what I remember most. I read through a few pages, can someone explain the hair dryer thing.

    thanks in advance

Warm the joints up with a hairdryer before you mess with them, or stuff like this will happen.

    Opinions will vary.

I tend to get a figure, pose it, and never really mess with it again, so in my instance just the 1st time. If you mess with your figures a lot, you might have to repeat the hairdryer process again with NECA figures.

Usually just when new. Heat them up, slowly work them around and they will loosen up eventually. Reheat as needed. Do not force anything. If you think you are using too much force, you are probably using 3x too much force. It’s a sorry state of affairs...but it’s just the nature of the things, unfortunately. I personally use hot water instead of a hair dryer. Hot water right out of the tap can work.

When did NECA switch to the more brittle plastic? My first NECA figure was the comic Turtles they did many years ago, and the plastic on those seems robust and almost pliable compared to the brittle stuff they use now. A lot of my Alien figures have busted also. I had a Xeno that broke in five different places before I gave up and threw it away.

Early-mid 2010s, I have some of the stuff they had when they were just starting to make video game figures and some of those have yet to break. By the time they got to cartoon and movie Turtles, they already had a growing reputation for random breakages. I think they’re mainly getting by due to the perceivably low cost of entry(with regards to sculpting, you’re arguably getting a lot more with a NECA figure compared to similarly priced figures). For example, compare Playmates Classics movie turtles for $20 with NECA 7” movie turtles($20-25). Night and day with regards to sculpts but the NECA one might be a ticking time bomb for random breakages.

Unfortunately it’s completely unpredictable. I had a NECA figure that was completely fine out of the box aside from a hand fused to its wrist joint. Everything else moved fine. Years later, after having been put in an air conditioned room away from sunlight just standing in a cabinet for months, the elbow snapped right off after merely trying to move it(said elbow joint had NEVER presented issues before and had moved just fine before). Figure hadn’t been dropped, was handled carefully, et al. It wasn’t the only instance of a NECA figure breaking on me or having weird qc issues(like 1 entire arm being molded out of a substantially softer plastic than the other!), but I decided it would be my last. Which is a shame because truthfully, had it not been for their plastic quality, I’d be almost all in for their movie and cartoon Turtles.

Looks like the mother load! I’m still waiting for Rat King to hit my area. How many of that set did they have there?

Edit: scratch that...just checked eBay...looks like they’ve hit my area, lol...
