For while now I have been meaning to organize my collection of Beast Wars figures into a giant lot to sell on eBay but I never can. Whenever I start going through them I inevitably end up getting stuck because some of them are just too cool. Still, I really need to de-clutter and they’ve got to go!..

...but I guess they all don’t need to go, right?

That brings me to the subject of this post. I’m not telling you all anything new—it’s widely known that Beast Wars era toys were top notch—but which one(s) would you never sell?

For me, I’m thinking I’ll be holding on to Transmetal Tarantulas. He might be a never sell.

First, I just don’t think I can think of a fault with that figure. It’s just great looking and playable in every mode.

Second, it just doesn’t seem likely that there will ever be another one. I never loved any of the figures from the season 1 beast wars line but I really like the Kingdom version. Upgrading leaves me with no love lost! But Fuzors? Transmetals? The chances seem slim.

And I might be ignorant to this because I’m not an active Beast Wars collector, but is there even a third party Transmetal Tarantulas?

Lastly, he’s somewhat sought after. I guess this is also due to his appearance in the IDW comics in addition to being a good toy of a good character from the original show. It doesn’t seem like his prices are exorbitant on eBay, but that’s a huge motivator either way.

What do you all think? Is Transmetal Tarantulas a never sell?

And what’s on your Beast Wars (Machines?) never sell list?

Personally, I wouldn't sell any of them. But that's just me.

Personally I wouldn’t have wanted to buy my first home (closed yesterday!) while unemployed during a pandemic, but here I am with 900 square feet and many boxes of toys. :)

I would absolutely not sell transmetal tarantulas. He's pretty hard to find complete and/or for cheap.

The Thrilling 30 trio of BW figures. They are fantastic updates, and they definately set the modernized look I personally want in new BW figures. They came at a time when new BW figures were very rare, and while I personally hope "better" versions come from future lines for new fans, I will never be able to part with these guys willingly due to my emotional connection to them.

Back in late 2014, I had just moved to the US and in the process left all my childhood movie collection behind. I remember going into Walmart and pointing out to my uncle how ugly and cool Rattrap looked to me. A couple of days later he got him for me. I barely knew of Beast Wars and had seen a couple episodes in Spanish, but the series didn't really click for me as a younger kid (probably because I watched out of order episodes from YouTube). But I decided to give it another go, and my 14 year old mind loved the series. That's when I got Rhinox after finding him in some random Target, and got my dad to order Waspinator from Amazon for me. I created an account here probably because of the 4th movie, but it was Beast Wars that actually got me posting more trying to find a community that liked the "old" 90s show.
Thanks to these guys I got more into the franchise as a whole, and while I collected some Studio Series figures (which are characters from my actual childhood), its the Beast Wars figures that I actually really love and I anticipate with a lot of enthusiasm. I am very excited for the rest of Kingdom and what they mean for future figures of BW characters, but I won't give these three guys up no matter what :D
I hope new younger fans can have a similar experience to mine with Kingdom, and that they can discover these great characters thanks to the new exposure Hasbro is giving them.

Any Waspinator figure I own instantly is exempt from the dreaded purge pile. After that it gets a tad harder. So far these are the guys that are not going anywhere.

-Depth Charge- He is fucking awesome despite the giant disc throwing gimmick, plus he was a rando gift from my mom. Just wish I knew what the hell happened to his sword...........
-Neo Sharpedge- Fantastic mold and just a blast to mess with
    -Inferno- FOR THE ROYALTY!!!!!!
-Basic Snapper, Rattrap, Razorbeast, Scuba, Razorclaw- missed out on all these guys as a kid, but OH BABY they are fun little bastards.

I own every mainline US-released Beast Wars figure as well as a few Japanese-only figures and some Botcon exclusives. I don't think I could sell any of them. If I did get to the point where I -had- to sell some, it would likely be the non-show characters to go first. But I don't ever plan to thin out that collection. Many other Transformers figures have come and gone from my collection, but I'll always hang onto my Beast Wars figures.

My pretty much infamous crappily-painted Battle Blades Optimus Prime. And most of the rest.

In fact, it’s easier to list the one I would get rid of: T30 Windblade. The thing is crap.

Any of my BW MPs. I regret sleeping on Megatron since I'll likely never own him as bad as he's gotten. Cheetor, Primal, Dinobot, and BA are some of my absolute favorite MPs. TT showed the line a lot of love, and even though there's some decent 3p offerings nothing comes close to the Takaras.

Third parties are only now starting to embrace the BW market, which kind of fits my 25-year theory (the idea that it takes about 25 years for the children of the toyline to become nostalgic enough and wealthy enough to drive a large adult collector market).

TM Tarantulas (both the original and Fox Kids) is on my all time Top 10 list. Original Primal is just a fun figure packed with play value. The new figure looks fantastic, but he won't be able to do chest-beating-monkey-rage (#emgo). There's a new 3P TM Primal out that I'll be picking up soon. The original is another favorite, though maybe not top 10. TM Megatron is definitely on my top 10 list, though fragile plastic syndrome means I'll probably have to replace him.

I absolutely adore all the basic TM2 figuresm, especially Spittor, Stinkbomb, Minor, and Nightglider. TM2 Iguanus is one of my favorite sculpts, and I have a thing for Ramulus too.

I do think both Depth Charge (love the Universe version) and Rampage could do with an update.

Honestly I love most of the BW toys, especially the TM and TM2 versions. I don't see them being replaced any time soon. New figures probably won't get chrome, will be smaller, and only marginally better articulated. There's only a few I can think of that are in real need of improvement.

Beast Machines Night Viper and Obsidian might be top 10 for me as well. Love most of those basic figures as well, especially Longhorn, Scavenger, Mirage, and Hammerstrike. Sky Dive and Black Arachnia are wonderful deluxe figures, and I have an unhealthy attachment to Savage/Noble.

Honestly? None of them. I'm still missing a lot of Transmetal 2s and Fuzors, as well as a handful of basics room the first two years, and my dream is to have a complete Beast Wars collection.

But Beast Wars is special to me, and the fact that I've deliberately left it a constant in my life, piecing it together over years. Gun to my head I may part with any "after the fact" releases like the Generations ones and Kingdom, but I just got Kingdom so I'm not looking to offload it any time soon. :D

The TM2s and Fuzors would be the first to go, if I had to cull. The Originals and Transmetals would be a far harder decision.

The Originals are the originals. They kicked things off. They're the most iconic look for a lot of the characters. The Transmetals are the pinnacle of toy design for the Beast Wars franchise as a whole.

I don’t think I would ever sell any Beast Wars related figures if I decided to sell off or downsize my collection.
