May I ask why you are getting rid of them?

    Yes, exactly that.

Imagine Ultra Magnus trying to open the Matrix. Does that help?
I can't get his right leg quite as far out as the left but it's stable.

I don't imagine clawing futilely and then getting exploded (or drawn and quartered, as per the originial storyboards) for the effort is on the top of anybody's "to-do" list...

For what it’s worth.... at least it’s not a definitive ‘no’.

I doubt it was UM's plan either.

So MM helps with the torso rigidity but also balances the arms w/ weapons fully extended. They must have made sure the balance was decent for that pose with his wrist effects. I'm going to use my lighter MM and arm bot shells but it sounds like I'll need to counter him tipping forward by putting weights on the heels. I'll test loading weights on the heels and in the feet by having him hold his weapons with both arms straight out in the front and then straight out behind him.

There was a guy that posted earlier about drilling out the sheared screw and using a bigger one. Don't know how that's holding up. I think I'll just do what motormeister did. Loosen the screw with a screwdriver or rotate the shin counterclockwise if it's not moving.

It's not the heels that need to be weighed down. The tipping fulcrum will be at his non-ratcheted ankles, so you'll have to counterbalance above those, to counteract the arms pitching him forward.

Weighing the heels down will enhance the effect of friction pads, if you're planning to install those under the feet, though.

Ah ok, so I'll load those weights in the leg bots behind him.

You'll probably need to experiment to find optimal weight placement.

Well, you only need to have dinner (and lots of it) to achieve that.

However, if you want to spread the hips...

So I wanted to see if I could engineer a way to stiffen up the lower part of the legs by adding in a 3d printed piece. I have some ideas but I wanted to convey how small of a connection there is between the lower leg and the knee joint. I am speechless. See photos below. Yeah that and the ankles are the biggest fear factors for me now. I used to think the lack of forward ratchets on the legs would be the problem but those have to be managed more. Is there a screw in the knee joint that controls how much friction there is? I think I may need to loosen that a bit to reduce the force needed to bend the knee but not so much that it doesn't hold a pose.

Oof. I mean, guess it makes it super easy to swap out the lower legs for the Toy version when they make that, but it ain't exactly great for a huge transforming figure! Are the knees ratcheted? Must put a huge strain on that tiny screw when when bending the legs!
