That's my main beef with Super7's figures. They really kill it in the sculpt, paint, and accessories, but their engineering hasn't moved on very much from MOTUC. They've made some advancements (pinless joints, Hasbro-style ankles) but I'd really like to see them go a step further with their new lines, especially the Godzilla Ultimates.

RED and Ultimates can co-exist, right? They have two very different price points and because of that, I think they serve two different markets. I'm not the target audience for either line but I'm super curious what these Ultimate figs will look like...

I don't buy that, Siege Soundwave is pretty damn posable and expressive. He's got every articulation point RED does plus an ab crunch to boot. I suppose the RED hands are better, but that's just not enough to me.

Maybe, but not by much. If I'm sacrificing transformation I expect things like double jointed elbows to be standard fare.

If you fellas are happy with the articulation level of these figures great. I do not find them very impressive. I'm not opposed to non-transforming figure IF the trade off is worthwhile. The RED line doesn't deliver that for me. If Super 7 does then I'll probably bite.

I like their ultimate voltron.  A wee bit cartoony looking though ,like it would fit in the Cyberverse  more than the Voltron universe.

I believe so. S7 goes for a 7” scale so by going by a slightly larger scale overall, these may end up looking more detailed. Wouldn’t be surprised if S7 goes for a more rigid plastic and possibly uses more translucent pieces beyond chestplates/canopies(like Prime’s yellow pelvis pieces, maybe lightpiped eyes).

I expect sharper sculpts for S7 Transformers compared to RED, but not as much articulation.

I\'m just hoping that we get action master characters in this line.

Super7 is probably only allowed to do G1 stuff and that will be one of the main differences between their line and R.E.D, but all I want is G1 and Beats Wars and if I only get G1 from Super7 then I'm happy.

Wouldn’t it be great if someone did articulated versions of pretender shells?!

    Oh.

Not at all, but you're welcome to your unpopular, minority opinion.

    All of this.

I’ll keep my so called unpopular/minority opinion.
If you don’t think this is redundant, you haven’t been paying attention or you’re lying to yourself.

nothing wrong with liking it. Hell, if it looks good enough I may be in myself as I like super 7’s stuff.

I can’t in any way say it isn’t redundant, though.

I don't know I guess to me a new interpretation of a figure is only "redundant" if it isn't superior to what is already available. Not that it means I'll necessarily run out and buy it, because sometimes good is good enough.

I get where you're coming from though. I could go for some more obscure characters/lines or reimaginings of characters myself, but thats not what's selling apparently.

What am I missing? All MOTU fans I know absolutely hated when S7 was doing MOTU figures, they complained continually about low quality, bad QC, etc. Did S7 improve since then?

These can co-exist with RED. RED is only $20, so it's less than half the cost of an Ultimate. Also, RED can probably still be obtained beyond preorders. S7 has open preorder windows, but once the product arrives (6-12 months later), it's no longer available since they're made to order. So yeah. I don't think Ultimates Transformers would necessarily be a huge hit. Certainly, enough people will buy them. I just don't think this will be a RED killer. Honestly, I don't think RED is going to last more than a year or two, anyway. It won't be killed by the Ultimates, it's just going to suffer a slow, natural death after a couple of years.

I'd say yes. While I never handled any of their MOTU figures, overall the TMNT stuff is of pretty good quality. As somebody mentioned, the engineering isn't vastly improved, but it is still better than what MOTUC did.

Sometimes the plastic finish can be inconsistent as well, but they're not awful in that regard.
