Because he looks like he's having a private moment?

Still can't get enough of these three together...

Further to my previous post concerning SS86 Grimlock : I caved. Pre-ordered.

Ordered from BBTS. With postage it still worked out cheaper than UK prices. (Of course if they slap on tax too, that could be a whole other thing. Sometimes British customs do, sometimes they don't. I got Sandstorm from BBTS recently and was charged no tax, but in the past I have been charged.)

Also ordered Kingdom Beast wars Megatron, so I should be recieving two T-Rex bots around March/April.

I agree, these new ones are going to be scaling VERY well with each other

It’s strange to me seeing the main line transformers consistently improving in quality while the masterpiece line seems to be going in the opposite direction.

I’m not surprised. The main line is cheaper to produce (and R&D) and has a VASTLY larger target audience. Whereas the masterpiece line is targeted specifically at a particular demographic.

They make money hand over fist on the main line where they have to sell specific quantities of the MP figures to break even.

It’s a no brainer plan. Make the bigger sellers BETTER in terms of sculpt and paint and they will fly off the shelves.

Does anyone have any pictures of replacing Kup's Limbs with pieces from the Weaponizers/Modulators/Fossilizers? I wonder how Frankenstein's Monster-ish they are. In fact, both the common depiction of Frankenstein's Monster and Kup both have square heads.

This whole “Masterpiece figures are crap quality” thing is fake news that needs to stop. All 5 releases since Hound have been very good quality. Very close to perfect without widespread issues. And for most people the MPs before Hound were very good as well. The only MPs I ever had major quality problems with are the MP-11 based seekers. Unless you’re talking about toon aesthetics. If you don’t like that then the MP line is not for you.

Edit: to keep this on topic I’m loving all the SS86 and Kingdom figures from the 86 movie. Very well done figures. I only have Cyclonus in hand so far but the entire first wave of SS86 is in the mail.

I never said MP figures were garbage. But I disagree, MP44 was plagued with QC issues from the start. Paint chipping and failing knee engineering on a $350+ figure is straight up inexcusable.

With a $20-$50 figure? I can fix something and not worry so much. Or get a replacement if need be.

I mean, there's enough crossover between the two lines that it's probably fine.

This is probably the first time in TF history we have three concurrent lines that all mesh seamlessly.

Fine by me. Between Siege, Earthrise, Kingdom and SS86, I'll be able to have all the G1 characters I've always wanted. All in a consistent scale and design aesthetic, in a relatively short amount of time. I never thought I'd be "done," but I'm getting very close. Absolutely loving the main line.

The new Jazz is scaled better with this line since most of the cars (datsuns, Lambos etc...) Are smaller than the old classics versions. The main win for the RTS is the integration of speakers but those weren't even toon accurate. 86 Jazz is the most toon accurate available but I will still always have a place in the heart for RTS.

I would definitely say so. Unless you really want weapon storage and the speakers, SS86 is the better version to go with all the WFC/SS86 figures. I do find the transformations to be about equal in difficulty, but SS86 tabs together better.
