I don't think they will at all, I think they will stick more to the Warframe model and that was heavily advertised before it came out, so they will most likely have some kind announcement at whatever big event will be next year

Hopefully Certain Affinity decides to treat "frames" more like body types and not like individual characters; I definitely prefer games where I can truly make a character my own, instead of just giving me a set person who I then need to play the role of.

I have the same gripe for most modern games because of this. I miss the old days of FoC where it was actually classes like scout or scientist, but the problem is ever since games like overwatch, the masses tend to want more of the character classed than actual classes which i personally think is stupid because majority of the time, they are locked to a very limited range of weapons and abilities and its honestly pretty annoying.

Even with games like Warframe it was still pretty limited until more recent updates, but it was better than the character thing.

My worry is that they are gonna go more the character route than the frame route just because I honestly don't think that's the mindset they are going and it will be more like games like Apex Legends where you're not actually customizing your character but just changing different skins with a limited set of abilities and other minor customization options.

My other worry is that they are gonna make the game more like Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Overwatch instead of WFC/FoC for the sole purposes of money. They said they would base it off more quality games like Warframe, but is that what really makes them money? The answer is no, shitty live service battle royale type games riddled with microtransactions is what makes them money and I think they care more about making money than a high quality game. You have to remember that Tencent now owns them and they are known for not necessarily being the most trust worthy company.

And as much as I hate to say it, passionate and trustworthy devs don't mean jack squat to the suits in charge, I mean look at CDPR and Cyberpunk, it was a very passionate dev crew screwed over by executives.

But at the end of the day, we still know NOTHING about this game beside leaks a few years old, so nothing is set in stone and this is just speculation based on gaming climate at the moment.

At the very least if it is character based, it could be pretty cool to see the different skins for everyone.

As we begin 2021, we’re currently working on 5 amazing games across our two studios, including leading development on an original IP, helping on Halo Infinite in partnership with 343 Industries, and three other AAA co-development projects not yet announced. It’s an exciting time to be part of Certain Affinity, which also means we’re hiring for many new positions in Austin, Toronto, and remotely, which you can view on our Careers page.

Our commitment to staying engaged and involved in the local community also continues in 2021. We have many exciting efforts currently planned that we look forward to sharing throughout the year. In addition, November 1st, 2021 will mark 15 years since Certain Affinity turned on the lights. We are really proud of this milestone and can’t wait to share more of our celebratory events with you all later in the year.

As per usually still no answer on what games exactly so we can only hope it will be somewhat soon. Eventually they will acknowledge our constant asking. Let's pray something accidently slips through the cracks for the next upcoming little bit.

That means Certain Affinity is developing a game completely in-house; it's not a licensed title. IP stands for intellectual property.

I mean personally if they take inspiration from Apex I wouldn’t be mad, probably the only battle royale I’d call legitimately good.

As long as a battle royale would only be 1 of the game modes. Battle royales get extremely boring after a few rounds and a month in the tryhards and people who take it way too seriously take over.

I got an idea, let's just skip it all together. No one wants a new battle royale, they want a quality game and battle royales are nothing but quick cash grabs filled with microtransactions.

Thankfully I can say that we are finally approaching the point where people are starting to get sick of battle royales.

I also want to put this out there, we should watch out for what they do show for this game especially since it just came out that Cyberpunk pulled an Athem with poor management, blatant lies, and a "fake" reveal trailer. Seeing how the development window shifted by a couple of years for things such as a beta, there most likely is behind the scenes drama we do not know about.

I agree, and I know all too well the sheer level of burnout people have regarding new Battle Royale titles releasing. I play a game called PlanetSide 2, and the developers were tasked by their parent company with developing a Battle Royale spinoff title in order to dip into the market, due to the explosive popularity of Fortnite.

Needless to say, "PlanetSide: Arena" was a failure from the start. The vast majority of longtime PlanetSide franchise players boycotted the game, and many even review-bombed it on Steam. To add insult to injury, Apex Legends was released, without warning, on the day PlanetSide: Arena was announced. The game barely lasted a year before it was shuttered, on account of the one-two punch from Apex and a furious fanbase that wanted those development resources spent on improving their core game and not a blatant cash grab.

what do you guys think of the game being marketed alongside Netflix Kingdom? I heard rumours it’ll drop in May and the tentative date for a beta of Certain affinity’s game is in August. these dates are close, could we even expect a game announcement around these times? we also know the game will also have Beast Wars characters so I guess that further solidifies my suspicions. . just some thoughts

Yeah, I know what you mean, every game tried to add a shitty br mode just for the sake of trends and making money, the most ridiculous one I heard was Fallout 76 having one... for a single player RPG. Used to play Planetside but i never even heard they had a battle royale mode so it must have been a disaster. I will forever personally hate battle royales because they ditched Titanfall 3 to make Apex and I am still salty about that.

Honestly, no, I don't think it will be tied to it whatsoever, but if it's successful they may try to do something like hey, you guys liked this, then you will love this, or if it flops, something more like hey guys, here's something to forget about this dumpster fire.

And to go out and say they will include beast wars characters, I would say no to that for the moment. No characters are confirmed at all so for all we know they could just be mentioning the Dinobots or generic beast forms. I agree they will most likely have beast bots of some kind, but I highly doubt they will be actual beast wars characters because I think they are adding all new characters.

Not a chance; the tentative beta date for this game is October.

Where'd you hear that? Did I miss an announcement?

Or was that part of the original leak slideshow showing all the stuff so far.

I'm pretty sure it was in some of the leaked documents we've already seen; if they planned for an October 2021 beta they were probably pretty far along as of March of last year. I wouldn't doubt it if they pushed back beta to next year, considering the lockdown, but other game development studios have been plugging along just fine with the changed dynamic so we'll see.

I’m very sure they will include beast wars characters. like I said, it’s mentioned or hinted at in the documents and they have the licence to use those characters. it just makes sense as Hasbro is pushing for Beast Wars to make a comeback in the franchise (the new movie, new comic book, new toys in WFC Trilogy, and also in the WFC show).

my bad that’s what I meant

the beta was already pushed back and that was to the October date due to the pandemic. while I wouldn’t be surprised if they have to do it again, the original plan was a beta in 2019. they already submitted one to the Leyou Technologies so they must have made great progress

Fallout 76 is a persistent multiplayer game and always has been. It wasn't until the introduction of the subscription that one could play in a private world alone or with only your friends.
