Yeah Ironhide and Ratchet definitely feel like an in-between sort of style. Especially with the hip flaps. That detail, whether you like it or not, is more of a deviation on the design like some of the older figures. Along with the limited hip spread, which again, wouldn’t be commonplace on new figures.

Another weird quirk of Ironhide/Ratchet's articulation is their inability to raise their arms directly forward past 90 degrees (or back 45 degrees) due to how their joints are embedded in the shoulders, with a large overhanging lip that gets in the way of a bunch of other stuff under the armpit.

Gundam fan, absolutely can confirm! As far as Bandai is concerned, there is only Japan and the complete wilderness outside of it.

Crossing fingers that we're going to see some prototype photos of Raiden in the upcoming Figure King, which will be released in a few days. But it's probably just going to be Thundercracker and perhaps Skids.

I would consider the "betweener" period to be from Magnus to Shockwave. That's when they started matching the minute details of the Flory Dery designs almost one to one (as opposed to redesigning details all over the place just because they thought it'd look cool or whatever), but much like modern Fanstoys they took the Flory Dery designs and tried to made it look "real". Then with Inferno they started making the figures look like actual cartoons (honestly I'm not sure where people are getting the idea that Inferno looks less toon...like he looks cartoony even in firetruck mode and he's curvy and rounded as all hell, literally every surface detail on his body is ripped straight from the Floro Dery design, I'd say he's up there with Bumblebee as being one of the most toony MPs of all)

Agree 100%...even though Inferno/Grapple have *optional* real truck chests, that's really no different than the gun grips on the sides of Megatron's legs or the dimples on Optimus's smokestacks or the head lights on Bumblebee's feet. Those were engineering concessions, not aesthetic choices, and they've consistently tried to do make the tooniest robot modes have realistic details in alt mode (where applicable; doesn't make sense to add "real" details to Arcee's car for instance).

I'd even throw Shockwave in there; he only feels a little out place to me due to his more limited articulation and less refined hand sculpt, but I can't really think of any way to make him fit in better with the current figures (aesthetically) otherwise.

Masterpiece Raiden news in figure king. Looks like he will be Unite size.

Mod edit: OCR Google translate of the image:

I think it's a good idea. Skids as a transformer and a new character reboost that makes the city a mouth bot. Reboost is a new character, so it's a little more luxurious, and it comes with a Motocompo. Masterpieces are being developed in parallel, and trainbots and new skyfires are finally in operation. The ride will have a size similar to that of the Unite Warriors. We have been waiting since the first announcement, but please wait.

Thing is, most Unite Warriors are probably is around 12 inches, but Devastator is officially UW as well, so "the god of thunder" could also be 18 inches.

Either way if its "CHUG compatible" I'm interested, but it'll probably be a wallet killer either way

Curious, if Raiden is going to be UW scale... Not sure if I would stick him with MP's. I would likely stick him with the TT CHUG's. Though at least he will be affordable. Curious about MP Skyfire though.

So much for being designated MP.

Sort of expected this with the scale. The only question is if he'll be Devastator UW-scale, or more Bruticus UW-scale? Also, how fricken expensive do we think an MP Skyfire would be if he was roughly the same size as say Fans Toys Phoenix?

An MP combiner is a new concept. So how it'd scale is absolutely up for HasTak to define.

Similar to how BW and Bay MPs aren't scaled with G1 or each other.

Raiden at a potentially affordable price also.

    ?

Scale to what, exactly? A new combiner mp scale? Cause' it'll be completely out of scale if it's uw scramble scale.

    Scale, scale, scale.

Crossing my fingers for this, but honestly not expecting it to be (It also depends what one's definition of affordable is).

If its around the $250 mark I may bite, but I wouldn't bet on it.

If he's UW sized, $200-300 seems like the range I'd expect.

The retool/repaint Selects Combiners have all been $190ish, but these would be all new.

My guess? They'll be WfC styled. So expect that level of engineering compared to the previous combiners.
