Saw Hardhead ans Brainstorm at my nearest Walmart a few days ago. Contemplated getting the Hardhead but $24 is more than I wanna pay right now.

Should be $19.87 in-store. $24 is the marked-up website price.

No, all TFs in our Walmarts here have an additional 20% mark up. Generations deluxes are $24, voyagers are $36. If they ever stocked leaders again they'd probably be $60.

The G1 reissues also have had this 20% mark up. Blaster was $36. Prime and Soundwave were $60.

Found Chromedome today, the only one sitting on the shelf. After getting it home and comparing it to the Titans return version, I am underwhelmed. They could have at least given it g1 style weapons. The new head is ok and the paint is meh. But this is my opinion.

I just picked up the quartet. Chromedome is pretty underwhelming but the other three are impressive in terms of new color, detail, and headmaster sculpts imo

Found a full set locally, I had no idea they were out yet. Kinda dumb luck on my part.

Since I prefer TR Brainstorm and Hardhead I just need to find Chromedome and Mindwipe. Unfortunately I keep just missing them while out and Wal-Mart.com is dubious at best...

Do you think they will have fixed the issues in this release? I would have loved Weirdwolf and Skullcruncher, but I read about issues with the canopy.

Somehow had no idea about these until tonight. At first thought we were getting classic molds in vintage boxes like the rest of the Vintage G1 line. Huge disappointment to see the line go in this direction. If the Chinese knockoffs can bring out Dinobots, Mirage, etc wtf is Hasbro's problem? I can't believe how many of you guys buy the same toy all over again for a box and a redesigned head. Calling these "retro" is ridiculous and a total cash grab by Habsro, just as bad as their "retro" Joe line they're trying to dupe people with.

Guilty. And I have purchased much worse for much more. Sure I would love G1 reissues, but I'll take these as well.

Let me guess, you don’t pay attention to the Star Wars or marvel figures hasbro does either? Also the existence of these does not mean g1 reissues are done, it just means that they wanted to rerelease these specific figures in a style similar to the retro card marvel legends and Star Wars figures that they’ve been doing for years

    1. There's a fair chance they don't have the molds for these guys, similar to how they don't have the molds for the Dinobots and others. The reason knockoffs can make new Dinobots is because they made new molds reengineered from the official toys, and making new molds for these G1 reissues probably doesn't seem worth it to Hasbro financially.

2: This practice of "current line figures in retro packaging" is absolutely not at all new:

You seem unusually angry over toys. You should try to step back from that, it isn't healthy.

Anyway, "retro" just means imitative of a style, fashion or design from the recent past. It is like calling the modern Ford Mustang or Dodge Challenger "retro" - no one means they are literally recreations of the original models. It is perfectly reasonable to call these Headmasters, that imitate but do no actually recreate the originals, retro.

In the case of TFs, it is wrong to apply the word "retro" to the re-releases, actually, as they are literal recreations of the original (Hasbro versions) of the toys.

As for buying the same toy all over again...I would remind you that collecting toys at all is fairly silly and absolutely a luxury. It is not for me or you to say how other people spend their time or money. If you feel otherwise...honestly, why are you here at all...?

I'm not gonna push my luck and argue with support to get the price back to $20 after buying, but has anyone had luck doing that?
