Yeah probably just a matter of how they want to deco it and what subline they want to throw it in (SS, Selects, SG Pulse, etc.) - POTP Uncironus, G1 Black Hot Rod, MP Black Rodimus, SG Hot Rod, etc. are all 95% the same in that its Hot Rod in black with minor differences between 'em.

 

The main thing about the G1 repaint is that it doesn't use purple and is actually an evil Autobot clone made by Megatron.

The purple was added in later when they started making him either a Decepticon or in Shattered Glass.

Incidentally, this character stepped into a special crystalized (Energon?) cave and became good...and translucent.

Pixelmaster never said it was a black hot rod. He said Hot Rod was getting a repaint and when asked what it was he said he hoped it would be the eHobby Black Rodimus Convoy colors, not that it was for sure that color scheme. I have to agree with him cause that's a badass color scheme.

Oh dang! The JP Crossover won't happen until 2023? That's still quite a ways off then.

As much as I'm not that big a fan of the Kingdom Ultra Magnus mold I honestly wouldn't opposed seeing the mold as Delta Magnus if only to finally have an official release of the Diaclone Powered Convoy homage. With all the dozens of Diaclone characters we've been getting in Selects so far I'm still surprised that there's no plans to do a Delta Magnus right now given that he's among the most wanted repaint of Ultra Magnus for years now and that Kingdom Ultra Magnus for better or worst would be the perfect time to finally do it. Not to mention it'd give people who'd normally wouldn't be interested in the Kingdom Magnus a reason to check it out.

 

Ah yeah they might be saving it for that. However, with JW3 coming out next year, they could also release it to coincide with that.

I feel like Armada Sideways and the G1 Chromedome art in wave 3 immediately delegitimizes this "leak."

Looks like G1 Chromedome art, makes me think it could reference a different repaint from the mold (Siren maybe?) Or just a repack of the wave 1 version

 

I think they would just use Siren's box art if that was the case. They don't put the re packed hardhead in the wave 2 art so if doesn't really make a good case. I hope it's true and these guys are coming though.
