this is a cool robot. cool cheetor? debatable. unless this is meant to be like, nemesis cheetor or something like that. either way, this concept art is really old, and i don't think it'll have any impact on a future BW design. This is like the most concept of concept arts. this is concept art the concept art bases itself of.

this thing is still better than BM cheetor, anyway.

Cheetor mode is alright, feels like what would have been if they ignored the furr aspects. I can easily picture the animal facial design interacting or speaking with other characters or how the metalic plates on the back would move to reflect the concept of furr in the wind. Concept 6 feels the closest to what I feel a bayverse Cheetor would be like and has the most personality of the concept arts. As others have mentioned, it does feel more like a 'Nemesis Cheetor', its not particularly colourful and the Bay-verse aspects of the robot mode are definitely the weakest aspects, but you can tell it's meant to be from the bayverse so that's something. I think the concept they were going for could have worked in regards to the animal designs if given a little more work and given some a more show accurate colour scheme. That said, when it comes to the Beast Wars movie I'd like to see something more show accurate akin to the Bumblebee movie's portrayal of the G1 cast. Something akin to the works of Simon Wong's Beast Wars drawings would be ideal for the movies.

I prefer the more alien designs. I would like the final creature design a bit more alien/cheetah hybrid.

I like this a-lot. Obviously this is not actually what he\'s going to look like as this was done years ago but I still think it looks cool.

I guess they are still trying to figure out how to refresh the Transformers movies. The best advice I can give is \"don\'t make them unwatchably cringey this time.\"*

*Minus Bumblebee, which was good despite being tangentally connected to the Bay verse.

    Horrible.

A black orange cat in spandex with layered pieces of the same things on it, and nothing remotely cheetor about it and a robot head that looks nothing remotely like a transformer design that has LEARNED from all the design progress since the first movie... and again looks nothing remotely like cheetor. EEeeehhhhh, quite a bad start in my opinion.

Haven't they learned anything since bumblebee?

I predicted years ago they were going to mess this up tooooooooo, leave it alone!

I feel like the prevailing wisdom, for toys related to live action movies is that they have to be different enough from what came before to sell the character anew and multiple times. This is different, but SO different that it's not recognizable as the source material. If you want to make a new audience AND appeal to the built-in audience, not only will you sell more toys, you'll reinforce the enduring legacy of the original Beast Wars. The reason that hewing close to the original charachter designs makes more sense, is that the original was visually adequate for its time, and as the animation improved over the seasons, the solid story and character development made it a classic. The aesthetic should be preserved for recognition. Spider-Man wears his classic suit in the first movie, then a couple variations throughout the other movies- repaints if you like- and evolves visually. Translating an existing mythology from animation or comics to live action, especially one that has rested almost 20 years, SHOULD be visually similar to what has come before. This looks like more Bayformer stick-bots. It doesn't look like a Transformer. Now, if it's a protoform, it's still ugly in bot mode. Needs a face. And, even though Ravage sets a precedent for feline-oid Cybertronians in Bumblebee, I wonder how animals naturally occur on Cybertron and Earth so similarly. The cat mode is beautiful, if it's an endoskeleton. It kind of looks like robot battlecat with motorcycle bits. Cheetahs have spots. Beast Warriors are indisitinguishable from actual animals, at least that's how they started. Is this a Transmetal 3? A Beast Machine follow-on? The best advice to the animator is to immerse yourself in those CGI cartoons and feel the mood, colors, and ease of motion- absorb the over-arching story and understand what makes each character work. Desaturation will kill this concept visually, no matter how silly a purple T-Rex sounds.

I get that the guy is commissioned to do art work for what the studio wants and bla bla bla. But enough of this Bayverse BS! The Bumblebee movie had a nice change of direction going. I would love to see that explored and even blend in elements of G.I. Joe and M.A.S.K. keeping everything mid 80s. Detach from previous Transformer and Joe movies. Let Cobra emerge from found Decepticon tech and Sector 7 becomes M.A.S.K. with the help of Autobots and then joins with G.I. Joe to take on the joint threat of Cobra and the Decepticons. I am 100% willing to "eat my hat" if it winds up being great and we all buy everything put out for it, but I don't see that happening...

I suggest you to read several pages back to know what exactly this concept art means.

Having sat back and thought about it, I actually wouldn't have minded seeing the cheetah mode in the final product if it had a more cheetah-esque color scheme... that robot head is still god awful though.

If you showed it to me out of context, I wouldn't know who it was supposed to be.

I don't hate the cheetah mode, though.

So, for everyone upset about this, you all know that this is early concept art, right? This is going to be far from indicative of the final product. As someone who has done a bit of research into the industry, and has also worked on concept art, I know that the first piece of concept art almost never is the final draft. The artist can sometimes have a completely different view than the client (that's something I know all too well from experience). I guarantee you that the final product will look much more Beast Wars accurate. Here's an example.
    [IMG][IMG]

This, as I'm sure some of you know, is early concept art for Dropkick from Bumblebee. As you can see, there are some general ideas which carried over to the final product, but they overall look very different. That's how concept art works. It's meant to put ideas out there and see what sticks. Gradually, over time, the final design is narrowed down. Often, they aren't even in the same style as the movie! There's absolutely no point to getting upset at early concept art, as it will change.

I'm sorry for getting so heated over this, I just don't understand how some people are treating this like the final design when it's not.

Oh man, this looks terrible. The whole point of the Maximals and Predacons is that they look like legit animals. This is not a disguise in the slightest lol.

Part of me hopes this only stays an early concept, but another part of me knows the Paramount execs won\'t give a shit.
