Yeah, I agree. They've always been hideous. But that's how they were able to inflate the number of articulation points!!!

Damn I’m excited to get this guy. Looks fantastic

Somehow I missed that the matrix handles were separate pieces, that’s kinda surprising.

also didn’t realize so much of his body had to be untransformed to utilize the ab crunch. Way messier than expected

all he did was extend the joints, no untransforming required

Extending the joints is untransforming? It’s a major step in converting it to vehicle mode. There are literally tabs involved.

I am sure it will be fine. He already has about as much articulation as a human, if I want him to bend further than most people can I am willing to do a little untabbing

For sure. don’t misunderstand me, I don’t mind. I was just surprised that that was how the exteme abdomen articulation was accomplished: for example, that one shot of the revolving table showing how the three point stance was achieved has some big old gaps.

I gotcha, for me it’s way more than I expected or wanted so I can’t really complain about features I didn’t expect.

I think that an extreme pose like that could not be achieved without a bunch of breaks in the sculpt, probably. At least all those extra joints and armatures collapse and tuck away when doing more conservative poses. I feel like if you're doing something like bending the guy in half, you're probably also going to be taking your photos (or whatever) from pretty specific angles anyway, so the sculpt breaks matter less.

ya, and the transformation would affect how the articulation is done, as well. It’s interesting how striker manus accomplished the same movement with such a different method.

Maybe it is the riffle but to me they look like you can extend them in a way that the clip distance to Pax' hand will stay the same but only the upper/barrel part can slide in or out.
Don't get me wrong, it may still BE that "riffle" is the exclusive thingy but it could well be something else...maybe the first head version?
    Let's see.
I'd personally love to see this staff that he used to handcuff Sonic & Boom but know this is rather far fetched.

In theory, I always love the idea of fully articulated hands. In practice, I always end up thinking they look too ungainly and misshapen. I’ve decided I’d prefer a couple sets of differently posed hands to articulated ones on my figures.
