Is that a Generations Brainstorm? I'm not a fan of the Headmasters concept (at all), but damn, that is a fine looking Transformer. The proportions are fantastic. What a great sculpt!

 

Yes, it is. An absolutely fantastic figure based on Alex Milne's Design of Brainstorm. Highly recommended even if you don't like headmasters. Crushes the TR figure.

 

Yeah, HMs typically have oversized heads, which ruins it for me, but this figure looks great. It's slightly stylized without going overboard. Really nice design.

It's ironic, because I:

1) have never liked Headmasters in concept nor execution,
2) rarely if ever like anything painted light blue,
3) almost exclusively limit my collection to TFs with Earth alt modes.

Yet, I find myself wanting one of these.

 

And I implore you to find one! His plastic is a nice teal, it is based on a great design which it is faithful to.

never had this happen before had a missing null rays on a seeker but never an actual pinned in piece wonder if anyone else had this issue

 

sorry youre having to deal with such an inconvenience. ive never had a piece and/or accessories missing (knock on wood). its bad enough nowadays with the cheaper plastic and poor paint jobs. now you gotta go through the hassle of getting a replacement. over the years ive never had any problem returning defective product.. hope you can get a replacement soon. best of luck on that.

Now I just need to worry about Ironhide, Prowl, Ratchet, Centurion weapons set, Quint Pit...maybe Barricade, Netflix Prime and I really want a few of those Botropolis Ironworks(probably not going to happen because I can't spend that much on Deluxes and doubt anyone would want to split that set...)

I used to think the Classics version was the best Hot Rod out there. Thanks for finally retiring him, HasTak.



One last comparison to the latest Hot Rod deluxe and their flaming exhaust effects. Sadly, Cyberverse Hot Rod’s flame effects don’t peg on that well to SS86. You can sort of get them on in vehicle mode but they don’t really stay and they look awkward.

All in all, a pretty cool figure. Sadly, I kinda snapped part of the arm pipe when I was transforming him from vehicle to robot mode because I didn’t realize the connection was two pegs and a hook in the middle (kind of a stupid design if you ask me, especially since the hook is totally unnecessary) and I can’t seem to get his calves tabbed into the slots (which I saw was a problem in some reviews), but he still looks very cool and is a commendable job.

 

I’m a little late to the party on this one, but I finally got an ER Smokescreen. He was the only Wave 2 figure I never saw in person. Found all the other Deluxes, but Smokescreen was always gone. Don’t know if I’ll ever get my hands on a Prowl/Ironhide set, but at least I got 2 out 3 ER Datsun Bros now.
