Man those hips are a huge bummer. Very minor ‘that looks nice’ for robot mode but now the dinosaur mode looks awful from any angle you can see it’s front. Real head scratcher there.

 

those sassy dino hands. Really hoping for an upgrade kit that adds some awesome show related accessories as well as new dino hands. Like his big freaking rifle and bandolier. Maybe a golden disk or two. And eye lasers. 

 

I hope we get Dinobot II. But they need a repaint, right?  

 

technically you could make thruster from a Dinobot 2 mold but I honestly wonder if that’ll happen anyway with this mold. I wouldn’t put any money we’re getting anything post season one of beast wars of characters in kingdom

 

We are supposedly getting BW Grimlock from him, so that takes care of the repaint. We might see SG Dinobot in the SG line too, if it does well enough. I doubt they'd do Dinobot II from him, since the adherence to scale means he'd be too small. I'd still love to see one, but chances are it won't be from the Kingdom mold.

 

I'll happily get Dinobot, but the dino hands and the red (purple) rocket tail.....sigh.....

 

Dinobot II would need to either be a heavy heavy remold or a totally brand new figure if they want to do it right. I could see a much simpler remold used to make the Cyber Raptor prototypes Megatron made before completing the Transmetal 2 technology. They’d basically just need to remold the back of the dino mode to add the control system, give him a color scheme similar to Grimlock’s with some added silver paint apps and bright red eyes. I’d be down for that. Even though the cyber raptors never had an alt mode in the show, it would be cool to give them one, perhaps with a remolded head that homages Dinobot II.

 

I mean they kinda already did do Dinobot 2 right the first time. There’s nothing to improve on it other than size. Same with most of beast wars season 2 and three. Extra articulation(ankles?) sure but they’re all still very good toys. There’s not really anything to improve other than maybe faces but I can look passed that. I have my transmetal Tarantulus on shelf next to all my new kingdom figure and yeah fits right in. It’s just season one that needed some updating.

 

I don't know, I don't remember TM Megatron breaking so easily on the show.

 

I for one would like to see them redo the Transmetals. I had bowed out of buying toys when the transmetals were on shelves. So I'd like to see the designs at retail again.

 

thats the plastic that was used. Not different than the QC issues we get with a figure now here and there but the toy and it’s engineering was fine and was accurate to what he was in the show

 

Articulation, yeeess!
Many BW toys including Dinobot 2 Are lacking thigh swivels. And by now I count thigh swivels to basic crucial articulation. If they did season 2 and 3 characters they'd of course get ankle tilts too, yes.
But there's one more thing.
Many, including Dinobot 2, have a (realistic) Problem with proportions. A new Dinobot 2 could give us a better proportioned chest, shoulder guards and a better face sculpt
Aaand there's even one more thing,
Scale. Might not account for Dinobot 2 (we don't have comparisons yet) but certainly for some like Megatron and Rattrap

 

well we’re not even getting the most accurate scale with kingdom and I don’t mean with compared to G1 figures. They’re doing their best but it’s exactly accurate

 

I know the reason, I was making a joke about accuracy.

 

I'm not jonesing too hard on the Kingdom beasts. But I'd buy a new TM Megatron on sight.

 

I'd only be pissed if Rhinox and Tigatron are close in size and I'm afraid that's exactly what's happening, because Dinobot does not appear to be Cyclonus sized

 

Tigatron and Rhinox really aren't that much smaller than Dinobot though, head shorter at most and given the size difference between Primal and Dinobot, it's possible they will sit somewhere in the middle

 

I hope you're right. I mean I hope the size difference is satisfactory

 

The difference in height is not that big actually, both Tigatron and Rhinox are consistently about slightly less than half a head shorter than Dinobot.


Here's one showing that Rhinox is just slightly taller than Tigatron, having them the same height would be acceptable as long as Rhinox is more "massive":

So, as long as Dinobot is at least a third of a head taller than both Rhinox and Tigatron I will be satisfied.
