We're all getting played. Thomas same thing happened yet 4 months after the release they are shelf warming at TFSource, ShowZ, and Terry.

 

"Shelf warming" at a much higher price than they were originally sold. Which isn't so much shelf warming as it's "we know this will eventually sell at a higher price and it's worth holding onto until then".

I'd like to politely disagree, to a certain extent. I do agree that some FT products haven't sold well, and then suddenly the price goes up and they disappear - for example Hoodlum and Jabber, both of which I managed to get before the price went up drastically. So here we're on the same page. The second-hand prices, which are ludicrous in my opinion, and which fuel a vicious circle of speculation (more people buy not for the toy, but for reselling). But lets say someone wants to purchase a FT thing for, lets say, $2000. As much as I would not give that sort of money for a toy, I don't think that labeling such people idiots is fair. As much as I don't understand giving such money for a toy, I also didn't understand MP prices until I got into MP. Are people making a lot of money on this? Sure. But if somebody can afford that, why not? And if this turns out to be a speculative bubble (which I think may be the case), the price will collapse, well, then we get the popcorn. But I think that if such a scenario were true, there would also be people who would basically say "yeah, I paid a lot, but I wanted it, and I got it, so I'm OK with that".

tl;dr its basic supply and demand of a product that is not a need, and I think that the people who pay this prices are ok with that. Kinda like the old saying, everything is worth what it's purchaser will pay for it.

 

Just because someone is ok with something, it doesn't stop them being an idiot for doing it.
