Same here. I returned an unopened Studio Series Optimus Prime (from the very first wave of SS voyagers) a few years ago because I had changed my mind on it. The person behind the counter actually split the tape and OPENED the figure to make sure everything was present and accounted for before retaping it and refunding my money. Also same person I tried to return a TR Brawn because it had a broken wheel out of the box. She just looked me square in the eye and said "Well, can't you glue it?"   But this same Wal-Mart never had a big issue with repacks so I guess while the whole third degree about returns was annoying I guess it kept the repacks at bay at this particular store.

I posted this a long time ago in this thread, but here's an article about a guy who allegedly did it with all sorts of stuff, like repacking and returning burned out lightbulbs and even putting a basketball in a Kuerig box and returning it.

Well that definitely fits the bill. But after reading the article, it seems this guy just has mental issues. He isnt a toy collector. What im looking for is some pics proving that the practice of repacking has trickled into other "non-geek" toy hobbies. Are girls doing this with dolls ? Are race car fans doing this with dicast models ? Or is repacking just a geek collector thing with action figures ?

Found an odd one. Seems someone swapped the Earthrise Prime for a Netflix one. I'd honestly consider this one if I didn't have the Earthrise one already.

 

I'd guess they either got caught by someone or at least thought they might be OR they just found out how disappointing that figure is and just left it.

 

I wonder if it's reduced because they know they got duped or if it's just standard post-Christmas clearance of toys that were just sitting around.

 

Ok the ROTF toys bad but not that bad.

No idea - I wondered that too. It took me a minute to realize it was a swap, so I can't imagine your normal employee (or really any normal non-transformers hardcore collector) would notice it's different.
