Thanks man...hmmm, I may still pick this up and just call it a day in terms of collecting a CHUG G1 Magnus.

 

Yeah, the cab not being more retooled is kinda crappy. Not only are the hands just there, the smokestacks are in the center on the cab instead of the sides.

 

My plan is to swap the 2nd panel from the front on each side of the trailer between siege and kingdom if possible. They're nearly identical except that's where the connection is on the siege one. Swapping them would allow the trailer to be connected closer to the cab like on the siege version and hide the hands in alt mode. Many car carriers also have trailer frames that reach around the cab, so it should work decently with the looks in my opinion

 

Yeah....But it cant be improved.....  


I was thinking that BPF might fix it kinda the way they did with the siege mold, but they left the hands hanging there too, so I wont hold a candle.
At least one mode (the UltraMagnus one) looks incredible, gaps everywhere notwithstanding.

 

I'm still holding out hope that later down the line we'll see a 3rd party company make an upgrade set for Kingdom Magnus that at least solves the major issues people have with the figure. Such as new parts to give the core robot a more convincing Earth mode along with a new trailer that looks and functions more like the original G1 car carrier trailer.

 

At that point it's less an upgrade kit and more a new figure

 

I'm not in front of my Siege Mag at the moment, but I do recall turning the fists the opposite direction in truck mode to help hide the "fist-ness" of them.

I'm glad you're excited about it because I'm really not feeling it. There are many other Titans that need releasing before we get to non-canon weird stuff like the Ark having a robot mode and not being in scale with standard figures. Yeah, I know the other titans aren't in scale either...but toy wise, they've never really been anyway.

And no, I'm not going to buy all of G1 all over again in Core class just to stick them in the Ark.

 

It would almost have to be now that everything's pinned or glued together because screws break the piggybank.

A couple of weeks back, my Siege Soundblaster's elbow snapped right in the middle. That would've been minor surgery at one time. Now it's all pinned, so you have to replace almost the entire arm. Same deal with a CW Scattershot I had that somehow managed to strip one of its hip joints. That toy might have two or three screws total so it was fatal for people that don't/can't punch pins.

Hey, there were excuses made for MP Hound cracking apart right out of the box, so nothing surprises me anymore.

 

for those that want a Cartoon accurate trailer, 1 piece transformation, and pay Commander size price + shipping, there's THF-04, just slap on a few Autobot stickers. mine just departed from China.

 

If there was a smaller scale version, I would be all over it.

What does a masterpiece or KO of it, have to do with a mainline? Not wanting to sound obnoxious, but its apples to oranges.

 

it fits the criteria of what some people are complaining about. the alt mode is only a little bit bigger in scale.

its only obnoxious if you think only 1 line is the end all be all. i've got some G1 saved from when I was a kid, I've got some CW, PotP, a few MP, Cyberverse, and some WFC.

 

Still I dont understand it. Those are two completely different lines, targeted at completely different groups, with completely different price points and needs. The fact that the Mp's alt mode might scale, doesnt mean it fits in the mainline.

 

Why couldn't they have just used ER Prime's mold and given us new armor and trailer?

 

Because that would have been Commander pricing.
They gave us a mostly empty box that is too short for Optimus' trailer. There's just no way to use only the plastic in OP's trailer to make all of UM's armor.

Maybe at some point in the future they'll give us ER Prime's bot with a UM trailer/armor as a Commander. I'd buy it.

 

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. It's tempting, though the scale is definitely more appropriate for my MP than for the retail line that I'd rather he be beside. Though, I suppose, CW UM is already a little too large (especially if you go by the scale implied by the doors and ladders on it).

 

Just received THF-04 posted some pictures in case anyone is interested in the alt mode scale with WFC deluxe vehicles. I'm definitely using this for alt mode (for me for display), and my Siege UM for robot mode (for my son to play with).
