While i do like that he is honest enough to bring up Rogue's flaws, but how that works for what he is looking for in a figure. I am a bit let down how he says that Arcee's plastic quality is low & doesn't think it'll handle repeat transformations when he refused to transform Rogue at all due to same issue. I have to keep reminding myself that he is a statue collector & admits that he never "plays" with his transformers but strictly just looks at them posed in his custom dioramas
I can live with the backpack and collar her flaws are less egregious to me than the flaws of Rouge and Azalea. Not saying shes perfect, but once you get out of the transformers bubble, shes just a better overall figure. Rouge is just a meh figure by any metric you would judge any other figure. She looks decent enough but outside of an FT s3 collection theres nothing outstanding about her. Azalea probably is a fun figure but aesthetic and proportion wise is a mess. Besides a smaller backpack I have no idea what they were trying to express aesthetically or creatively with her bot design there's literally nothing coherent about the design.
I'm a fan of BSF's reviews. For MP-51 I can see his viewpoints but the main thing I disagree with him is how fragile he thinks it is. I've transformed her several times and I feel like this is one of the better built MP's Takara has offered, and have no fear of breakage during transformation. Most of the other things I disagree with his review are subjective and everyone is entitled to their opinion and no one is right or wrong when it comes to that. Personally I tend to share a lot of subjective tastes with BSF when it comes to robot toy appearances, but I'm the complete opposite of him when it comes to MP-51 vs Rouge. I actually preferred Azalea over Rouge's aesthetics and MP-51 blows both away in my book.
I don't want to derail this thread and it's awesome pics. And I definitely don't want to start a YouTube reviewer argument. I just want to say that my opinion is that Bobby tends to be biased against TT products and I unsubscribed from his channel a long time ago because of that. His priorities for a figure do not align with mine. MP-51 is far from fragile and possibly the highest quality figure TT has done in a long time. And the transformation is pretty straightforward and intuitive to me. I'm really looking forward to the new seeker mold and I'm hoping the eventual reissue of Hound will finally put the TT quality issues behind us. Keep up the awesome pics everyone! Many of you are far better than I am at posing and I'm really enjoying this thread!
I had a feeling when I saw Bobby's review it wasn't going to be well received by some. It is his opinion an everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
This. I tend to be half n' half with Bobby in terms of collector views (I care about display, but I mess with my shit considerably more than he does with his), but he's still my go-to for a quick rundown of a figure (I more often than not just skip to the final thoughts ). I'll leave my side of things here with this, wait till he gets to Starscream... Luckily in regards to Hound, @Phamduc seems to be getting his reissue copy tomorrow most likely so the answer to that is VERY imminent.
I guess I'm just one of those weird types. Could not care less about ANY reviewers. At all. Don't watch them. Never will. The best reviewers are you guys. Us.
I can't believe how slow they are these days. That's just crazy. I assume that's why Emgo still hasn't done a video for Arcee. I agree about the opinions. I don't watch review videos for their opinions. I watch them for entertainment or to see if I missed something. I normally preorder MPs and get them in hand before the reviews are posted anyway. Bobby is so ham-fisted that there's nothing I could learn from him and his constant TT bashing ruins the entertainment value so I stopped watching. My favourite reviewer is Wotafa and I don't understand anything he is saying. I just like to see the master transform the figure and his enthusiasm is fun to watch. but he doesn't seem to be doing videos for TT MPs anymore. Just CHUG figures. Speaking of enthusiasm, I'm really missing @Sam and @Dean ML 's pics for this figure.
A-fuckin-men. Wish people would reserve comments on reviewers to their comments section under their youtube videos. Easy enough to skim past I suppose. That said, our very own @Sixo does amazing reviews. For him I'll make an exception Thanks pal. Anime Export is currently still waiting for a reply from DHL for a shipping quote to Ireland, because DHL won't ship to Russia. So then I'll have to get a family member to post it onto me from there. Needless to say it's gonna be a long wait. Haven't had a new mould MP since MP-44 (my early copy of MP-45 arrived the day before him). Guess I can wait a couple more months. Heck I didn't even post pics of my MP-44 or MP-45 here because I was taking a break from the boards. I haven't posted pics of a new G1 MP since... Sunstreaker?
Sixo's channel is simply a joy. The wait will be worth it once Arcee does finally get to you. There's just so much character to her.
Yeah, Sixo’s a nice fella, too bad he doesn’t hangout here much anymore. Can’t wait to see photo skills with MP51.
MP-51 is definitely an expressive figure as demonstrated by the photos in this thread, but I don't think it represents Arcee well (neither do any of the other 3P offerings). I found this image online, and in my mind, this is what Arcee should look like. More slim and slender than curvy. Nonetheless, MP-51 seems to be a great figure and that alt mode is def awesome, but sadly, I won't be picking one up.
Not exactly what you’re looking for, but I’m sure it’s interesting for somebody. Here’s my process of taking and editing a photo: The set-up: camera, external flash, black plexiglass and bounce card. Here’s a shot taken from my phone mounted on top of my camera. As you can see, the figure is free standing without any stands or support. This is what the shot looks like straight from the camera. The photo is imported into Lightroom for the majority of the edit. Here I am adding a graduated filter to compensate for the lighting on the lower right of the image. The image is then exported to Photoshop for cleaning blemishes, additional adjustments, and to get rid of stands or supports if they were used Here’s the finished edit, ready for publishing. Feel free to ask me any questions
That overlay really shows where the issue is. It looks more like the neck/white part should come out more
You know what I mean and again, camera angles and pose trickery. clearly the legs cannot go back. It's a frustrating design flaw. Has anyone at all got around this yet? Is there some sort of fix for it? or is it a mold issue due to the way it was designed? Also, thanks for sharing. Some I've seen look....okay I guess, but seeing it on a shelf will look weird and unnatural to me. I want her I really do. maybe I'll just pull the trigger and wait and see if there's some kind of fix for the lack of backward leg movement.
